Founded in 1975 by aviation enthusiasts and World War II pilots, it’s a place to appreciate and learn about Western Canada’s aviation history.
It’s fascinating because the museum is in a hangar built to be a part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan during World War II. So it packs a lot of historical significance.
In their own words, they are “passionate about bringing aviation history to life”. They have great exhibits about Canadian space programs as well as documents about aeronautics.
The Hangar Flight Museum is also so kid-friendly. It’s an educational experience that they’ll enjoy.
You can arrange a field trip for your kids to help stimulate their brains and imagination. There’s something for kids of all ages from nursery, preschool, elementary school, to young adults in high school and even college.
If your kid is in a homeschool program, you can include a trip here as part of their curriculum when learning about the Second World War.
The Hangar Flight Museum also offers programs for the students who go there. It’s great because their programs help students learn about concepts like pitch and yaw and Bernoulli’s Principle.
There are so many programs to choose from for different ages and levels. It’s great because it’s so immersive and educational.
Here you’ll experience learning outside of just mere textbooks. It’s seeing history up close.
They also can host sleepovers at the museum grounds, which is definitely a fun and memorable experience. You get to sleep among the planes, participate in a fun museum-led program, eat snacks and breakfast, and watch a movie.
