Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. And I can attest to that because an empty stomach in the morning is enough to turn me into a different person.

OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Sunday: 8:00AM – 2:00PM |
Unlike any other restaurant that simply adds a couple of light items on its menu to serve early customers, OEB Breakfast Co. creates hearty yet imaginative breakfast meals. This restaurant is focused only on serving breakfast.
This restaurant is led by classically-trained chef, Mauro Martina. With his upbringing in Italy and his experience as executive chef in Toronto and Calgary, he makes use of the finest and freshest ingredients to elevate signature breakfast classics.
Under Mauro’s leadership, OEB Breakfast takes the farm-to-table experience on a whole different level. They source their fresh and seasonal ingredients only from local farmers and producers.
To make its well-balanced breakfast meals available to just about anyone in Calgary, OEB Breakfast has three convenient locations: one each in Downtown, Mission, and Bridgeland. It even offers takeout and delivery services for those who don’t want to travel to these locations.
But given its popularity, one should also expect long waiting lines before being seated. Some even complained about slow service.
Luckily, OEB Breakfast has an online system where customers can sign up for waitlists. It isn’t the same as a reservation system, but it’s a step closer to minimizing waiting times.
Pros
- 3 convenient locations in Calgary
- Farm-to-table experience
- Fresh and seasonal ingredients
- Picture-perfect breakfast meals
- Options available for dietary restrictions
Cons
- Long waiting times

Customer Reviews
Here are some customer reviews to give you some insights into what to expect, should you choose to eat at OEB Breakfast:
“I was looking for another breakfast spot with no luck, and OEB was packed. So, I figured there must be a reason. First, the coffee is good. I don’t know what kind of blend or roast, I just know it tasted like good Coffee. I ordered the classic breakfast, free range eggs, potatoes fried in duck fat, and rosemary ham. Artisanal toast. My waiter suggested I try the hollandaise sauce, and put some on the side. The food came out fast, and was hot. Tasted good, I had never had rosemary ham, it was a subtle flavor, the eggs were perfect, and the fries were a perfect texture. Great experience.”—Jamie D
“This is a great local Breakfast Restaurant in Mission. The patio is OPEN!!! It is set up perfectly for social distancing and it is also stylish. There is plenty of seating here so there shouldn’t be a long wait and the staff are friendly and efficient. This is an excellent place to come for those who are health conscious or have dietary restrictions. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu items and do not make you feel uncomfortable about any alterations that are needed to make your meal suitable for you.”—John William Wade

However, Diner Deluxe’s opening hours are limited only to breakfast hours. Between this and the fact that they’re very popular, eager customers may find it difficult to get a table in this breakfast and brunch restaurant.
Some customers have also complained about the unexpected cancellation of orders.

Customer Reviews
Here are customer reviews to tell you what exactly it is that clients enjoyed at Diner Deluxe:
“Diner Deluxe is newly opened in Mahogany and I’m so glad we have this spot in the south! The eggs benedicts were a hit but the favourite was definitely the potato rosti. Great ambience with modern 50s decor and the usual mid-century modern aesthetic. They serve Phil and Sebastian coffee and do have bags available for purchase of their own personal blend. Come early as they don’t take reservations.”—Lisa Ma
“Love having this in the South. Went around noon on a weekday, and had no problem getting a table. Staff was friendly, and made sure my coffee was always full. And gave me a to-go coffee when we left! Breakfast available all day, so we got the huevos rancheros and meatloaf hash. Both great, with giant portions. The jam is magic. The menu is a little pricey for everyday, though. Super trendy style, with a mid-century aesthetic. Makes for cute selfies. 🙂 “—Kat Eleanor
3. The Bro’Kin Yolk

BEST SELLER | Chicken and waffles, Eggs Benedicts |
MENU | https://www.brokinyolk.ca/new-page |

When talking about the Bro’Kin Yolk, we should consider each element of their name. First of all, this breakfast restaurant is founded and run by brothers, Gil and Jeff Carlos who have over two decades of combined restaurant experience.
The second element of this restaurant’s name is all about Kin, which is why it brings a warm and familial vibe to each of its three locations. This tight-knit experience also applies to the community as Bro’Kim Yolk gives back to the needy through its partnership with Mealshare and Kidsport.
Lastly, the Yolk stands for the star of each breakfast dish that Bro’Kin Yolk serves—organic, Omega-3-rich, free-range eggs. This restaurant even goes beyond by sourcing all of its seasonal ingredients from local farmers and producers.
Unfortunately, Bro’Kin Yolk can’t provide everything as it doesn’t entertain early reservations and even delivery services. It does, however, have an online waitlist system for its customers’ convenience.
And while it doesn’t do deliveries, Bro’Kin Yolk still caters to customers who’d rather stay at home by providing essential groceries like home-cured bacon, hot sauce, and even coffee blends.
Pros
- Eggs incorporated in almost every dish
- Waitlist system available
- Farm-to-table experience
- 3 convenient locations in Calgary

Customer Reviews
Read these reviews from customers who seem to have found the best breakfast from Bro’Kin Yolk:
“Bro’Kin Yolk is my absolute favourite place to eat breakfast in the city! Both their Creek Side and Mahogany locations feature friendly staff and great food. The wait on weekends can sometimes be long but that’s just because the food is that good. If you don’t feel like waiting, ordering for pick up is always quick (usually ready in 15 minutes). Any dish at Bro’Kin Yolk that comes with their house cured bacon is a must, by far the best bacon I’ve ever had! These Bro’s know how to do breakfast right and with a wide array of options there’s bound to be something for everyone and gluten free options are available!”—Taylor L
“This is such a great breakfast place. The food is always good and service is superb! The Chicken and Waffle was delicious, not dry and over cooked. I ordered a side order of homemade sausage and i got two toonie size medallions, which was disappointing and very expensive. I would skip that next time. Try their White Chocolate Lavender Sauce for your waffle…Delicious!”—Kamster Wrong

OPERATING HOURS | Monday – Sunday: 8:00AM – 3:00PM |
Galaxie Diner defies all expectations as it serves breakfast as late as 3:00 PM. This diner is headed by Brad Myhre, a long-time patron of smoked meat eateries who insists on using pure maple syrup and real butter on the restaurant’s dishes.
Given this taste and background, Galaxie Diner serves breakfast editions of burritos, smoked meat hash, and meat omelettes. All of its meals already come in large portions but Galaxie Diner still offers unlimited toasts and hashbrowns to fill up its customers’ bellies.
When it comes to drinks, Galaxie Diner serves delicious milkshakes for everyone. And did we mention how they also offer bottomless coffee options for every patron waiting for or finishing their meals?
Galaxie Diner also features vintage interiors, where families, friends, and hangovers can lounge on booths and barstools while waiting for their food. This breakfast joint even has an open kitchen with a grill, making the place warm and appetizing.

Customer Reviews
Read these reviews to know what clients like and dislike about Galaxie Diner:
“Not stingy with the good stuff. Their omelet is bursting with ingredients, their benny comes with a big slab of ham, and they’re able to offer unlimited toast and hashbrowns because you’ll be too full to get it. There will probably be a line on the weekend, but it’s worth the wait.”—Ben Trig
“Food was amazing and the staff were super friendly! Was just very slow in terms of the service…I understand it is busy but for a small place it seemed a bit slower than expected. I waited 10 minutes to get napkins with my food. It totally could’ve been a one off day so we will for sure come back! Again great food, super friendly people just 4/5 with the speed.”—Rhonda Elizabeth

Customer Reviews
Here are some reviews from Holy Grill’s customers to give some idea about the breakfast diner:
“We have been dropping by Holy Grill for many years. The owners are always there working away at the grill. Hard working brothers! We often get the farmhouse wrap along with beet chips. The farmhouse wrap is a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Always always ask for sirracha if they somehow forget to give it to you. Combined with sirracha, the farmhouse wrap is an explosion of flavors in your mouth! The beet chips are what they are known for. Every single time we passed by, that’s what we grab along with a sandwich or burger. I don’t even like beets! Yet, I eat these beet chips in a heartbeat!”—Victor Law
” Absolutely delightful! Best burgers in Calgary. We ordered the Brunch Burger and Blackened Chicken burger.
The Brunch Burger was perfect. The meat was so well seasoned, bacon perfectly cooked, egg was runny, amount of sauce and flavour combination was delicious. The bun was perfect, kept everything together and was nice and soft / fresh. The chips are coated in a delightful seasoning ?? well done! “—Rebecca Brown

“Namo might be the best place for breakfast in Calgary. The taste, quality, presentation are all worthy of high-end hotel restaurants, but the atmosphere is casual / family – clean, simple, cheerful. The menu is creative – fusion of breakfast classics with California flavors and – I kid you not – Tater Tots. You will be delighted and stuffed! “—Robert Lazorko
“I really enjoyed brunch at Namo. Their portion was huge, everything was super tasty and flavorful and service was great. They have a pretty big menu and we had a hard time narrowing down what we wanted to eat so I’ll definitely will be back to try other things. We each ordered a brunch bowl and the ferrero french toast to share, there was so much food we had to take some of it home for sure. Another great thing about this brunch place is they take reservation.”—Lily H

Customer Reviews
Here are some more customer reviews to help you decide whether or not ZCrew Cafe can give you the best breakfast in Calgary:
“I brought my dad for what turned out to be a wonderful fathers day brunch. My dad really enjoyed his americano because you can tell they use quality espresso. My girlfriend ordered their iced ‘silky coffee’ which comes with a cream cheese foam…boy was it tasty. My dad and I both ate the “birds nest” which was pretty good but definitely needed some seasoning as the scotch eggs were very bland. My girlfriend decided on the tuna breakfast bowl and raved about it. Everything was well prepared and nicely presented. Service was quite good but the food took a very long time to come out as they were pretty slammed. I will absolutely be back to try some of the other things I almost ordered.”—Tyrell Scott
“We went for brunch here and it was good. The egg benny had good flavour, however I wouldn’t necessary give French fries for breakfast especially not with a smoked salmon benny. Also, I found a hair in my food. Although they were nice enough to remake the dish, I was still charged for it.”—Julie Moreno

“The staff here were so friendly and the food was incredible. The store was clean and the atmosphere was amazing, I love that you get your own plants on your table. The service was fast and the waiter was knowledgeable. The presentation of the food was exquisite and cooked to perfection. They are also doing an amazing job with guidelines for covid 19. Everything was extremely clean.”—Andrea Denise
“A great brunch place! Definitely has a cool vibe inside! It was like someone searched all the cool Pinterest posts for “brunch place” and put it in this restaurant! Hash browns are awesome! I had the Korean BBQ short rib poutine and it was super flavourful and made the hashbrowns stand out more with the sauce! The meat was super tender and flavourful! And you would definitely fill up on that. Maybe get a salad to balance it out after. Our server Danielle was very friendly and helpful. Checked in just the right amount of times and made it a great experience for us.”—David O
12. Queens Breakfast & Cocktails

OPERATING HOURS | Tuesday – Thursday, Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM Friday – Saturday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM |
For such an elegant name, Queens Breakfast & Cocktails features a rustic and close-to-home vibe through its menu and venue. It does so by using fresh and local produce and by being accommodating of vegan and vegetarian preferences.
For its menu, Queens Breakfast & Cocktails serves traditional classics like omelettes, French toasts, waffles, and pancakes. Since it’s surrounded by local distilleries and breweries, its menu also features wines, cocktails, draft beers, fresh juice, and even coffee.
Queens Breakfast & Cocktails also strays from other brunch places because it’s located in the quieter parts of Calgary. But despite its family-friendly surroundings, it lacks high chairs for toddlers.
And unlike other restaurants, this one also allows for online reservations. Queens Breakfast & Cocktails even has an online waitlist system to cater to those who weren’t able to reserve early on.
While Queens Breakfast & Cocktails certainly hits many good spots, it also has considerably poor customer service. We say this because we’ve read some reviews regarding staff who won’t pick up the phone or servers who were either rude or impatient.
Pros
- Patio-seating available
- Vegan and vegetarian options
- Online reservation and waitlisting system
- Large selection of beverages
Cons
- Some complaints about poor service
- Complaints about being unreachable via phone
- No toddler-friendly chairs
Customer Reviews

“We’ve been meaning to try this place forever and it did not disappoint! Service was impeccable, our server was friendly, knowledgeable and fast! The food was scrumptious and also super quick. Wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have tried more….but I’ll just have to come back for that!”—Marika Pittman
“Wonderful! I was impressed with the attention to detail and quality on the food, service and decor. Queens brought memories of Oxford, the Netherlands, France and some of South East Asia. A great place for friends and family. Has this become my favorite breakfast place in Calgary? I think it has. Make sure you call for the weekend waiting list. If you’re going on a Sunday arrive a few minutes early for parking – no big deal. I look forward to meeting the owners some day! Great job guys!”—Filipe Drumond

Customer Reviews
Here are some customer reviews to help you pinpoint what exactly it is that patrons like about Benny’s Breakfast Bar:
“Quality, Bang to buck ratio, Atmosphere and staff are all working at the top of there game. This has quickly become my go to spot for a quick and fantastic breakfast. Once a week over the past several months food has been consistently fantastic. I usually do a pick up order, but even just stepping in for a minute your eyes are taken to all the fantastic décor and memorabilia lining the walls. The Staff has always been extremely friendly, and fantastic. Almost feels like a little hidden spot with it’s location, but making your way to Bennys is like a trip to the Flavor town of the past. Highly recommended.”—Quade Meloche
“Eating at Benny’s is always a 5 star experience. Food selection, food taste, cleanliness, staff, even the overall vibe. Affordable prices and big portions. I’ve never been disappointed and ate there over 10 times now. We went with our 2 kids young children and they even had a booster and highchair so both could eat in comfort.”—Madison Andrew

In 1956, community worker Edna Taylor built Blackfoot Truckstop Diner. Since then, it has become a hub not only for truck drivers from all over North America but also for anyone looking for traditional Canadian meals.
It serves breakfast and other types of meals 24/7. So, those who’d want pancakes or eggs and bacon late at night can certainly rely on this diner.

Customer Reviews
For more than 70 years, Blackfoot Truckstop Diner remains one of the signature Calgary diners. Here are the reviews to tell you how it has survived so long:
“BTD is bit like stepping back in time to a place where the big chains had not wiped out this style of diner. It has a sort of worn comfortable feeling and look, like a old favorite jumper or jacket. Its is clean and well maintained. The food was good with an extensive Canadian style menu that should satisfy most people who don’t live on lobster. The service is efficient, if a little brusque, so don’t try engage the servers in conversation because they are busy. If you would like to engage in some Canadian nostalgia, this is the place to try. I will certainly pop in again when I am in this part of town. Long may BTD continue to serve the weary traveler.”—Simon Potter
“This is what I always think of when I think of classic diner food. Haven’t found any place quite like it in Canada. I’m sure they exist but they’re rare these days. Food is great. Prices are great. Coffee is great. 24 hour service is great. It’s great. Just go.”—Brady Fullerton
