Smoking is actually the main cause for lung disease and contributes to lung cancer. Smoking can cause inflammation in your lungs that will make breathing difficult for you.

You can talk to your doctor about smoking cessation aids so you can quit the habit. If you’re having a hard time quitting, you can also talk to a  counselor

2. Exercise regularly.

When you exercise, you strengthen your lungs and your immune system, making it easier to fight off infections such as pneumonia. Exercising doesn’t have to be boring, you also have loads of options here in Calgary.

You can hit the different gyms here to see which one you like best. They have communities there that can really motivate you to exercise.

Hiring a personal trainer can also be an option for you because a trainer can give you personalized exercises for your goals.

You can also try other exercises such as yoga and pilates. They have group classes and solo classes so you can choose which one fits you better.

Starting a mini gym in your own home isn’t so hard anymore. There are a lot of great retailers here in Calgary where you can get fitness equipment for a cheap price.

You can also go to studios for dance lessons. If you don’t really dance, you can pick easier forms of dance.

It doesn’t have to be pretty or coordinated, what matters is that you’re having fun and exercising. Other options include walking, running, and swimming

Community Centers are great especially during the summer because it’s a fun place to get the exercise you need.

You can take steps by having your home also tested for radon. This will ensure that your home is safe at all times especially if you have young children with you.

4. Eat food good for lung health.

Some foods have nutrients that are good for your lungs. Examples are apples, peppers, blueberries, yogurt, lentils, beets, green tea, olive oil, and turmeric.
