5 Fun Things To Do in Calgary During Winter

Calgary is definitely the place to be when the winter season rolls around. Its geography allows for some thrilling activities that you can do with your friends and family

For the brave-spirited, skiing and snowboarding are one of the most exciting activities to do come wintertime. It’s a good thing these activities are a major part of the Calgarian lifestyle during the winter. 

There are so many great places for skiing and snowboarding in Calgary. WinSport Canada Olympic Park, for example, has the perfect slope for beginners and it’s just within the city. 

Another one is Nakiska that also has some great slopes. Skiing lessons there are offered even to kids as early as preschool and nursery

So if you have little ones, you can bring them along because you know they’ll be guided well. As they say, start them young.

2. Relax in the hot springs

Banff Upper Hot Springs, in particular, is a bit of a drive away from Calgary.  It might take you a little more than an hour to get there.

Whether you’re a beginner skater or an expert, you’ll definitely have a good time skating in Calgary. Take note, however, that hockey nets and sticks are forbidden on outdoor rinks for safety reasons. 

5. Tubing

Tubing is the perfect family activity. You can go to Servus Tube Park where they have eight lanes for you to enjoy sliding in. 

Remember to get your tickets online in advance, and make sure to book quickly because slots fill up fast. You can bring kids from ages 4 onwards. 

Keep in mind that you have to bundle up and wear face coverings to protect yourselves from the cold weather.
