The Skate Shop – Olympic Oval
The Skate Shop is a great ice skate place that has both a rink you can use and offers rentals. They also have other services like sharpening, custom bending, and rockering.
The place can be pretty busy considering its location, but the selection of skates here is always top-tier and the staff is really great at what they do. They’re also very friendly, so they’ll help you pick a pair and get sorted if you’re skating at the Oval.
If you’re the type who likes tons of merch, you’ll also enjoy what’s on offer at The Skate Shop.

- Monthly rental: $50 per 30 days

- If you’re taking any of the long-term rental options, you need to give an upfront payment of $400 as a security deposit. Once you return the skates, you’ll get the difference back.
Skate Hut – Calgary Skate Rentals
Skate Hut offers very affordable rates for their ice skate rentals, though there is a maximum rental of two hours. They also rent out helmets, skating aids, and shoe bags.
The Olympic Plaza, where you’ll find Skate Hut, also offers free skate equipment rentals occasionally. It’s worth checking out their updates before you visit so you can capitalize on these promos.
Some of their ice skates are very much on the budget side, but the friendly staff is always helpful in aiding you to find a pair you’re comfortable using. If you’re simply here for a casual cruise on the ice, the skates they offer are more than enough to do the job.
You can also visit their North Glenmore spot, which is just fifteen minutes away. That said, it’s only open on weekends.

Sports Rent
Sports Rent is purely about rentals and equipment services, so they’ve really perfected the craft and have great ice skates on offer. They carry both figure skates and hockey skates.
