Little Burgundy is generally known for selling high-end, branded shoes. If you’re familiar with the store, this branch is very similar to its sister stores (39 in total) throughout Canada.
This shoe store carries popular shoe brands such as Adidas, Converse, Nike, and Vans. If you love brands like we do, the numerous options here will feel like a treat.
What’s even better is that they seem to have a lot of shoe type variety in each brand, which we appreciate. The store was also very organized, and despite the place being busy, someone quickly assisted us during one of our visits.
The online shopping experience is roughly the same – everything is organized so you don’t get lost looking for the shoes you want. Plus, they don’t post products that are out of stock simply to avoid confusion.
Obviously, they aren’t the cheapest shop in town, but their prices were comparable to malls carrying the same brands. On top of that, they always have products on sale, keeping them relatively attractive, price-wise.
Customer service and product selection-wise, Little Burgundy meets our expectations. What truly pulled us in was their extensive selection of shoes, which will almost certainly earn them a return visit from us.
Pros
- Carries high-end, branded shoes
- Extensive selection of shoes and shoe brands
- Organized store and approachable staff
- User-friendly online shopping website
- Updated shopping website
- Always have products on sale
Cons
- Can be quite expensive
Fantastic service, very communicative
Came into this store looking for a specific pair of shoes. The young lady serving me didn’t have the color that I wanted but informed they could order them in for me. A week later I received an email that they had arrived. Fantastic service, would definitely come back here again. – Scott W.
2. John Fluevog Shoes
Product selection | 4/5 |
Customer service | 5/5 |
Shopping convenience | 4/5 |
Good value for money | 4/5 |
Additional services | 4/5 |
Calgary has its own John Fluevog Shoes branch, perfect for collectors who are always eyeing the brand. They have their own authentic Fluevog catalog – plus the shopping experience really reflects core Calgary.
Anyway, the store itself is aesthetically pleasing, with an ambiance that you don’t typically find in a shoe store. They have an art gallery in the basement, a museum upstairs with pop-up shops, and, of course, their very Instagrammable shoe display.
It probably makes sense, as Fluevog is actually quite known for unique shoes and boots. As for product variety, they have other types of shoes in stock too and most of them are available on hand.
We also considered having a friendly environment when rating shops, and this store certainly knows how to deliver. Most clients we chatted up also expressed their appreciation for how considerate and accommodating the staff are at the shop.
When we made the time to visit their location, we were very pleased with their in-stock shoe styles. They had a ton of color options plus structure and textures that really bring out any outfit.
On the flip slide, the store seemed to not carry as many large men’s shoes as we’d have preferred, which is somewhat disappointing. Some of us happen to have big feet and we’d like to be well-shod too!
Pros
- Authentic Fluevog shoe collection
- Unique shoe store catalog
- Art gallery and museum available for viewing
- Shoes are always available on hand
- Accommodating staff
Cons
- Doesn’t have large men’s shoes in all styles
- A few style of shoes are only available on display
Helpful staff, beautiful shoes
The staff are amazing! Helpful, lovely human beings. The shoes are beautiful works of art that are also comfortable and wearable. I get compliments on each and every pair I own. – Meesha McAwesome
Go extra mile
Calgary FTW! This is the Fluevog store I call when I need help tracking down obscure parts or have questions about sizing and fit. Wonderful, friendly staff who will go the extra mile to fulfill all your Fluevog dreams… – Jennifer Wolfe
3. Sole to Soul Footwear
Product selection | 5/5 |
Customer service | 5/5 |
Shopping convenience | 4/5 |
Good value for money | 4/5 |
Additional services | 3/5 |
For any shoe collector, client care is just as important as the quality of the product. Fortunately, this is something that Sole to Soul Footwear showed us they can offer, giving us an impressive experience beyond their witty name.
When we say they care, we mean that their staff is always available for advice on the right shoe selection. Actually, this is a crucial factor for them because this store specializes in selling footwear to people with health issues.
They even offer “modern shoe therapy” where they customize footwear for their customers. This is all made possible thanks to their professional footwear fitters who are trained for this specific service.
Now, functional shoes are amazing on their own but they do have a notoriety for looking a bit clunky. So to know that they still make an effort to design and style each shoe to look good is a plus in our book.
Aside from customizing shoes, Sole to Soul Footwear also carries a wide range of brands, giving customers numerous options. The only downside is that most of the products are often out of stock, which really defeats the point of variety!
Finally, like almost every other business nowadays, their products are easy to browse and purchase on their website. It’s just that items take days to deliver – because they have to reorder stock – so you really have to be patient as you order.
Pros
- Provides customized footwear to fit health issues
- Has trained professional footwear fitters
- Provides sound advice on shoe selection
- Provides modern shoe therapy
- Carries a wide range of shoe brands
- Available to order through their website
Cons
- Frequent delivery delays
- Items often out of stock
Great customer service
Alycia was super helpful, I needed an advice regarding the best shoes that can match my needs, she recommended two options, she was patient enough to grab different pairs to find the right size and ended up with a great choice. Thanks for the great customer service – Mohamed Atallah
Nice selection of stylish footwear
Nice little store with great selection of stylish footwear. Staff are very knowledgable, trained professional footwear fitters! Who knew that’s actually a thing?!? They are not commission driven so you certainly don’t feel pressured into buying something that doesn’t work for you. – Kinetic Orthotics
4. The Shoe Closet
Product selection | 4/5 |
Customer service | 3/5 |
Shopping convenience | 5/5 |
Good value for money | 4/5 |
Additional services | 4/5 |
We love shops with multiple locations because we appreciate accessibility. With two locations throughout the city, The Shoe Closet is obviously one of the more accessible shoe stores in Calgary.
The store carries many unique brands and styles for Calgarians that are available in various sizes. Hence, they’ve managed to provide a great selection of shoes from different internationally known brands.
Their colorful and sophisticated shoe options, in our opinion, are the big draw. This comes as no shock to us, as their selection is great for putting together amazing OOTDs.
But browsing through their display, their chic shoe collection department seems to fit more of a casual user. In other words, this store offers footwear for the everyday person – not a bad thing, of course, but it depends on what you’re looking for.
During our visits, the store looked lovely and filled with natural light – always important when shopping as customers will not be misled by “false colors”. We find this to be especially important to note as they’re known in particular for their colorful shoe collections.
Unfortunately, there were complaints about customer service, but we don’t worry about it that much since it made up such a small percentage of their overall feedback. In fact, we had a great time shopping at The Shoe Closet and will definitely be back.
Pros
- Has three locations across Calgary
- Carries international shoe brands
- In-demand for their colorful shoe collection
- Offers style-versatile, everyday kicks
- Great shopping environment
- Available for online shopping
Cons
- Minor complaints regarding customer service
Quality footwear, trustworthy
These shoes are changing my life! I’m finally investing in quality footwear, so The Shoe Closet in Inglewood has become my go to shoe palace. I have unreal comfy heels by Picadilly, and the best casual slip ons from Taos. I can trust that the shoes will be supportive and have a long life, and the staff is honest in what the brands offer and really take time to find what I’m after. Will be back! – Kayla Bigras
I can’t go in here without finding something fantastic. Great local shop! – Mark Hadubiak
5. Reddhart Workwear
Product selection | 4/5 |
Customer service | 3/5 |
Shopping convenience | 4/5 |
Good value for money | 4/5 |
Additional services | 5/5 |
Shoes aren’t just for fashionistas, so we looked into vendors of working shoes too. Thankfully, we found Reddhart Workwear, which carries premium quality workwear pairs from the most trusted brands in the industry.
For most of our reviews, we emphasize how important product quality is . But Reddhart Workwear prioritizes aftercare in particular, which we truly appreciate (we promise to get to their shoe selections later!).
In line with this, they offer 6 months of warranty and repair for every footwear purchase, giving customers good value for their cash. Not a lot of shoe stores offer this level of service, so this is something we like a lot.
When it comes to their product selection, everything is made in Canada and in North American styles. The items seem to be of high quality and we do like that buying here means supporting local shoemakers.
As for customer service, Reddhart Workwear has such a large team that client assistance comes easy. This workforce size has allowed them to give additional services such as on-site employee boot fitting and custom embroidery.
Despite this, we still heard some negative feedback about customer care, with some clients saying they found them a little slow.
Pros
- High-quality and durable workwear selections
- Made in Canada and in North American styles
- Large number of staff
- Offers a 6-month warranty and repair
- Custom embroidery offered
- On-site employee boot fitting available
- Direct shipping
Cons
- Minor customer accommodations flaw
- Not all products are available to see on their website
Very helpful staff, have all sizes in stock
Great selection of Blundstone boots at this store. We got another pair of CSA Blundstone for my wife who works at a supermarket from this location. The staff was very helpful. Great service and they seemed to have all sizes in stock. – Keith R
Great product, warranty, and people
This store has the best quality work boots in the city hands down. Nothing beats the quality. And the customer service is awesome. Can’t say anything bad about this place. The product is great, the warranty service is great, the people are great. – Sarah Miller
6. Shoe Muse
Product selection | 4/5 |
Customer service | 3/5 |
Shopping convenience | 4/5 |
Good value for money | 4/5 |
Additional services | 4/5 |
If you want to add more personality to your closet, we think Shoe Muse is a fabulous choice. Despite them not carrying many popular brands, we consider them a high-end shoe store due to the quality of the products they have.
Shoe Muse doesn’t collaborate with what we might call ‘generic brands’, though they currently carry some of Europe’s most exclusive brands. It’s possible to score some show pieces here and even unique pairs you won’t see anywhere else.
But we like that the unique stylishness isn’t obnoxious – the pairs are still good for any occasion and season.
Shopping at their physical location can be overwhelming (but in a good way). Their ultra-chic shoe store has that luxurious ambiance, although some of the decor may be just a bit “over-the-top” for our taste. We love the personal runway though!
They have in-store consultants whom customers can seek advice from. Ideally, this should be helpful to most shoppers. However, we actually experienced the polar opposite.
Some of their staff members can be intimidating to approach, with an “I don’t care” expression on their faces. We promise we were friendly ourselves when we got on to chat, but we guess some attitudes can’t be helped.
Rude service aside (which will obviously reflect on our score sheet), Shoe Muse is really a fun shoe store. You might want to visit sometime to see their Euro designs and funky hip footwear.
Pros
- Over 10 years of experience in the industry
- Euro designs and funky hip footwear
- All products are perfect for every occasion and season
- Aesthetically pleasing and convenient physical store
- Accessories available
- On-hand consultants
Cons
- Complaints regarding rude staff
- Can be pricey
Excellent, found shoes that fits
Had an excellent experience. After having several surgeries on my ankle which drastically changed the width of my foot and ankle, I was beginning to feel so defeated in finding shoes that didn’t make me look like a senior. Ended up leaving with 5 pairs of shoes. – Mackenzie Lowe
Great selection
Wife had an absolute blast with the great selection, awesome service and appt based opportunity to shop. Dani is amazing! – Dom
7. San Antonio Shoes
Product selection | 3/5 |
Customer service | 4/5 |
Shopping convenience | 4/5 |
Good value for money | 3/5 |
Additional services | 4/5 |
San Antonio Shoes are fairly well-known shoemakers here in Calgary. The craftsmanship here is really what we’re after – including the style and overall comfort, of course.
The brand has a “duty shoes” collection that pitches footwear as both durable and stylish. We’re very impressed with these products as they’re slip-resistant, making them ideal as work footwear.
The fact that they craft their shoes by hand – one shoe at a time – is what takes their work to the next level. Looking closely at some of the shoes in their current lineup, everything is well-made, well-padded, and has great support.
We had the opportunity to try on some of their best-selling shoes but we didn’t end up buying any. Everything was a bit pricey compared to the usual range, although the quality was also beyond average.
Their overall shoe inventory is also limited, which may be disappointing to some shoe aficionados. Still, it makes sense, seeing as San Antonio Shoes has made it clear that they’re focusing on quality over quantity.
By the way, San Antonio Shoes now offers over 88 sizes and widths for women and 112 for men. At least, you’ll have more sizing options here than at most other shops!
Pros
- Comfort-oriented shoe builds
- Handcrafted shoes
- Slip-resistant styled shoes
- Wide range of sizes and widths
- Online shopping available
- Ships Canada-wide
Cons
- Limited selection of shoes
- Quite pricey
Lifesaver, shoes look and feel great
If you have any trouble with your feet this place is a lifesaver. I work on my feet but have had major trama to them. This place has shoes that help with that kind of thing. The shoes look and feel great. The staff know their stuff as well. – robin smith
excellent customer service. Nizar knows shoes & helped me find a stylish, comfortable pair of shoes. – Zeke News
8. Canadian Footwear
Product selection | 3/5 |
Customer service | 4/5 |
Shopping convenience | 3/5 |
Good value for money | 4/5 |
Additional services | 4/5 |
Canadian Footwear’s Calgary location is yet another shoe store that promotes foot health. They’ve been producing high-quality footwear since 1932, so local trust and reputation are already established.
We were personally enticed by their “We Fit You” slogan, which seems to prioritize customer service. We particularly appreciate that they recommend shoes not only for style and durability but also to educate their customers on proper foot health care.
What we like most is the store’s excellent fitting service – something important since they do custom orthotics. You can book an appointment for this, but you need to be patient as they may be difficult to reach at times.
Apart from their focus on providing footwear to people with health issues, we were thrilled that they managed to keep at least a few known brands on hand. This includes Rockport, New Balance, Birkenstock, Cobb Hill, and more.
Unfortunately, there was a bit of an ‘out of stock’ issue, which is what most of the customers complain about. The good news is that they can accommodate reservations (if you wish) for incoming stock and can email customers when it arrives.
Lastly, Canadian Footwear is generous with offers and deals, which we believe first-time customers will appreciate. They have daily sales, seasonal discounts, limited-time discounts on new products, and free shipping on orders over $90.
Pros
- Over 90 years of industry experience
- Offers customized shoes that cater to health issues
- High-quality and durable products
- Great fitting services
- Can reserve items for incoming stock
- Sells shoe accessories for orthotic needs
- Generous deals and offers
Cons
- Limited brand of shoes
- Complaints about items being out of stock

Great service and selection! Amanda Bushby is the best for custom orthotics! There really is a difference, I went through 2 “ custom “ pairs before having them made with Amanda, it was like night and day the difference in the quality! Highly recommend, I won’t get shoes or orthotics anywhere else! – Jodi P
