Alberta is one of the extremely popular regions in Canada for skiing. Fortunately, if you find yourself in the Beltline neighborhood, the best place to ski is just around the corner.
At the Sunshine Village, one can enjoy a thrilling gliding session on skis or enjoy the snowy views while riding the gondola or the chairlift.

Barb Scott Park is a lovely place to take a breather in the Beltline neighborhood. There’s a skating rink in the park which anyone can enjoy for free.
Here, you can practice doing the salchow, the lutz, and the single axel, or, of course, hold on to your dear life while you try to balance on the slippery ice like the rest of us ice skating noobs.
Pro tip:
Barb Scott Park is also well-known among locals for its interesting art installation called the Chinook Arc. It’s even more fascinating at night because it lights up and gives the surrounding area a peculiar glow.

Learn how to move your body gracefully at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks. They have a lot of classes to choose from, so you’re bound to find something that will catch your interest. There are adult dance classes, partner salsa, and other classes just for your kids.
Attending just a few classes made us grow a deeper connection with our body and learn how to appreciate what it can do. We loved how there’s no pressure to be good or to succeed, so we were able to focus on just having fun!
Pro tip:
If you want to learn how to dance professionally, they also have classes for that. It’s an 8-month long training session where you’ll get to be trained by professional jazz dancers.

Haultain Park sits on the residential area of the Beltline neighborhood, so it’s on the more peaceful and quieter side.
Aside from the kids being able to play on the two playgrounds available, there’s also a picnic area and a tennis court adults can enjoy.
Pro tip:
Haultain Park’s busiest hours are usually around 7 PM to 8 PM. If you want to avoid crowds, we find it best to go here during 9 AM to 12 NN.

Exit Calgary has a lot of interesting escape rooms you can play with your friends. Each room has several themes and stories that make it super-exciting!
As of the moment, they have one about dinosaurs, a pharaoh’s tomb, and more. Some rooms require at least 3 people to play, but there are some rooms you can participate in by just bringing one friend.
Pro tip:
Our favorite from one of their escape rooms as of the moment is the Tokyo Rush. Incidentally, it’s also their most popular game as of writing. Try this out if you want something challenging but easy enough to play confidently.

Being the city’s oldest park, Central Memorial Park is particularly popular among locals. Every November 11, this is where Remembrance Day ceremonies are being observed.

Bookworms would love this. This park is also home to the Memorial Park Library. Not only does it keep a lot of interesting books, the exterior is also a lovely sight inspired by the early 20th century.

One of the most unique parks in Calgary, High Park, is exactly what its name entails. It sits on the rooftop of a building, 6 floors up from street level.
This spot used to be a parking lot but after a thorough reconceptualization, they’ve come up with a beautiful public space where Calgarians can gather to enjoy the surrounding views of the surrounding cityscapes.
The colorful nature of this park is also enough to lift anyone’s spirits, which is exactly what it was made for. In fact, it was created some time during the height of COVID-19, so locals can escape from their apartments when it gets too stuffy.

There are also performance art events in the High Park, so check out their website to plan accordingly.
11. Take photos of the popular Rundle Ruins

History buffs would enjoy a peaceful visit to the Rundle Ruins. This historical landmark is a remainder of Calgary’s Second General Hospital from the 1800s’ tail end.
It was (and still is) an architectural marvel designed to depict a neo-Roman style.
It’s a popular spot among locals who want an interesting background for their photographs. Sometimes, you’ll even see a few professional photographers around taking photos of couples for their engagements and such.
Pro tip:
If you’re bringing a car, do note that there’s limited parking in the area located at 12th ave. That said, it shouldn’t get too crowded during the weekdays, so it shouldn’t be cause for concern.
12. See the Lougheed House National & Provincial Historical Site

The Lougheed House National & Provincial Historical Site is a museum also known as a beautiful mansion in Beltline.
It has been restored and maintained to make it look as close as possible to how it looked in the 20th century, including artifacts and furniture. They also have interesting rotating exhibits that change at least three times per year.

You can also enjoy the Lougheed House National & Provincial Historical Site for free! There’s a beautiful flower and vegetable garden that anyone can enter.

If you’re planning on catching one of their spectacular shows, we suggest being there at least 45 minutes before the show is set to start. Since shows start on time, this would avoid missing any vital part of the performance.
