One thing any Calgarian can tell you is that we have the best rodeos in the world – and the Snow Rodeo is no exception! This year, the FIS Snowboard Slopestyle and Halfpipe World Cups are back for their third installment.
They’re in town for a weeklong festival of style and acrobatic trickery by some of the world’s best freestyle snowboarders, which runs from February 6 to 12.
The great thing about this event is that it’s free to watch for the public, so make your way to WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park on the dates listed.
What to Expect
Of course, you can expect to see the world’s best riders catch big air and compete for cash and points (which will go towards their world ranking and their Olympic qualification.)
This year it’s bigger than ever, with World Cup halfpipe and slopestyle action coming to the slopes of WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park.
Calgary will surely bring out the vibes that the fans are looking for with its stacked rider list and heavy course.
There will be a deep pool of talent from the younger ranks, including a Junior World Champion and new faces who will challenge established riders.
But, let’s be honest, fans will only go to WinSport to see their favorite Canadian team, and they will never be disappointed!
The team is set to return after another successful Olympics to deliver yet another outstanding performance.
If you don’t have the time to devote to this weeklong event, no worries since the competition formally kicks off on the fourth day. The first three days are reserved for participants’ registration.
For the audience, it’s a must to dress warmly, as the event will surely be cold. There will be concessions inside the park, so family and friends won’t go hungry for the duration of the event.
With everything, there is, we will not be surprised if this snowboarding event in Calgary is a huge success. After all, it has become an annual highlight on the city’s calendar, with all of the local riders flocking to watch the best.
