Granary Road Active Learning Park and Farmer’s Market will launch October Harvest Days that’s fun for the whole family. Within the next few weeks, local farmers in the area will be harvesting their fall crops and it’s something you don’t want to miss.
You can sample and buy different crops like apples, corn, turnips, cranberries, and of course, pumpkins! Aside from making them into pumpkin desserts, your children will also enjoy the art of carving them for Halloween decorations.
The market will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Aside from the assortment of crops, Granary Road is also a great place to bring kids. You can take them on wagon rides, and take pictures with their fall decorations and their trademark orange truck.
The Active Learning Park is a family destination with 36 acres of open space and 11 exhibits that teach kids lessons about agriculture, animals, and insects in an engaging way.
Other attractions that kids will enjoy are a giant spider web climber, a 4-story ant farm, trampolines, a fruit tree with a corkscrew apple slide, zip lines, a petting zoo with goats and an alpaca, and a maze!
It’s a great place to enjoy the fall season with a cup of hot apple cider and meet different people. Granary Road will also be holding some fun activities throughout the month, so mark your calendars on the following dates:
October 1 & 2 | National Farm Animal Day |
October 8 & 9 | Thanksgiving |
October 15 & 16 | Pumpkins & Putt Putt |
October 22 & 23 | Pumpkin Fest |
October 29 & 30 | Halloween Fun |
National Farm Animal Day is the best time to bring animal lovers. You’ll get to interact with and enjoy the different furry friends the whole weekend.
Thanksgiving will focus on all the local vendors. You can buy fresh meats, cheese, pies, and even wine. You can taste the best of what the market has to offer.
Do note that they’re closed on Thanksgiving Monday.
Pumpkins & Putt Putt is where you can play mini golf and get a pumpkin of your own. The Scottish Mill will even be hosting an open house that weekend for you to learn more about its production facilities.
The Pumpkin Fest is the weekend you surely can’t miss! Granary Road partnered with the Okotoks Optimist Club for the fourth annual Pumpkin Chunkin event. Basically, it’s a contest where you’ll create your own machine to launch pumpkins as far as possible.
It’s an event open for all ages where you can enjoy games, music, and even a costume contest.
Lastly, Halloween Fun is where kids can go trick or treating and play their autumn scavenger hunt.
We agree with their tagline that Granary Road is surely “where friends and family come together to enjoy the good things in life”.
