If you love country music and enjoy a night out, this event is for you. Come this September 8 to 11, the annual Country Music Festival is coming to Calgary once again.
Calgary is actually the country music capital of Canada, making this event extra special. It’s the city’s 10th time hosting the festival (that’s more than any city in the country).
Expect a week of live music, great fan experiences, and a red carpet event at the awards show this week. Fans of country music can enjoy the chance of meeting their idols and seeing about 60 artists perform in venues large and small.
Some of the artists you ought to look out for are Brett Kissel, Jade Eagleson, Lindsay Ell, Mackenzie Porter, Tyler Joe Miller, Robyn Ottalini, and Dallas Smith.
The whole week will showcase breakout acts, icons in the industry, and performances from rising fresh talent in country music.
This festival actually started in 1977. Its goal is to increase awareness and exposure for country music artists in Canada.
Since then, it has grown into this massive event with three components: a music festival, the CCMA Awards Show, and an industry conference.
Here’s what you can expect:
The music festival is a fun and engaging way to showcase local country music. It has a CCMA Fan Village, a Songwriter’s Series, various talent showcases, FanFest, and the Legends Show that a lot of people look forward to every year.
The CCMA Awards Show presented by TD is a two-hour television special that you can watch live that highlights the achievements made in country music that year. This will take place on September 11, to culminate the event.
This year’s CCMA Awards will be hosted by country music icons Tenille Townes and Blanco Brown. Artists will compete for the much-coveted awards including Album of the Year, Fans’ Choice, and Entertainer of the Year.
Tickets for the awards night begin at $50.00. You can get them here.
They don’t just honor those on stage, however, they also recognize the talent and hard work of those working behind the scenes through an industry conference complete with educational workshops, seminars, and networking receptions.
These workshops will be free for all attendees, so don’t miss your chance!
They will cover topics such as the intersectionality of music, modern technology, consumption habits, different aspects of songwriting processes, the state of the Canadian country music industry, and even the power of fandom.
They have a lot of great speakers on board. It’s the perfect opportunity for aspiring artists, budding songwriters, or country music fans in general.
