The reality of renting a boat or yacht often falls short of the glamorous vision you have in your head.
I’ve heard horror stories, such as rude staff ignoring requests and engines sputtering to a halt. It often leaves you adrift in the middle of the water. It’s the kind of hassle no one wants to deal with.
That’s why I decided to take matters into my own hands.
After dealing with the frustration of unreliable rentals and testing the waters, I’ve compiled a list of the best yacht and boat rentals in Calgary.
With this list, you can skip the stress and enjoy your time on the water.
How much does it cost to rent a boat and yacht in Calgary?
It costs at least 100 CAD an hour to rent a boat and 1,000 CAD for half a day on a yacht in Calgary. This price is just an estimate. The final cost will depend on its amenities, the time of year, and more.

1. Rock The Boat Rentals

Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
What impressed me about Rock The Boat Rentals was how effortless the process was. You just show up, enjoy the boat, and head home—no fuss, no hassle.
I also loved that they took care of everything, from the paperwork and fuel to water toys. They even provided a temporary boater’s license, so no experience was needed.
I rented the 22-foot Moomba Craz and was happy with its luxurious features. My favorite was the Bluetooth sound system. It made cruising even more fun.
I was pleased that the extra ballast bags added comfort. The boat itself was well-maintained, looking as good as new.
However, I was disappointed that the boat wasn’t very spacious. It felt like it might get cramped if I had brought a few friends.
The most pleasant and easy rental experience
“I rented Nick Pelletier‘s Moomba wake boat for 12 hours, 4 one day 8 the next and it was by far the most pleasant and easy rental experience I have ever had. He was very accommodating to some of the rescheduling issues I had. The boat was on time every time, very responsive to any questions I had on and off the water! 10/10 experience would recommend to anyone 🤙 will definitely be back next year.”

2. Calgary Yacht Club

Contact Details: +1 403-272-3300
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
The Calgary Yacht Club impressed me with its variety of rental options. It’s not just about sailboats—they also offer paddleboards and kayaks. This is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the water without committing to a full sailing experience.
I appreciate the quality and cleanliness of their sailboats. They’re well-maintained and cater to all skill levels, which I thought was great.
I also liked that they have 420 boats for adults and Optimist sailboats for younger sailors. It makes it a family-friendly option.
Aside from that, I found the rental process simple and convenient. Plus, the staff were friendly and helpful. They took the time to explain safety procedures and answer any questions before setting off.
But there’s a catch—the club requires you to be a member to rent. It’s inconvenient if you’re an occasional sailor looking for a one-time experience.

The staff at Glenmore Sailing Club impressed me with their dedication. They ensure every renter understands how to operate their boat responsibly.
I also appreciated their focus on teaching reservoir bylaws and water safety guidelines. This left many customers feeling confident and well-prepared.
Aside from that, I liked that their smaller sailboats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It keeps things simple and accessible.
While I didn’t get a chance to rent their top sailboat, Jane Mary, others have raved about it. They loved its spacious and comfortable design. Plus, the option to book it in advance is a big convenience.
The only drawback I noticed is that they don’t offer introductory sailing lessons. First-time sailors mentioned wanting more guidance for a smoother experience.
Lovely quiet paddle and overall experience

What I loved the most about the Bowness Park Boathouse was the pure, unadulterated freedom they offered.
There is no need for reservations or pre-bookings—just walk up, pick your vessel, and hit the water. It’s such a hassle-free experience, which I appreciated. However, they don’t accept cash.
Aside from that, there’s a chance all the boats might be taken when you arrive during busy times.
Luckily, I managed to snag a pedal boat for $20 for 30 minutes. It was clean and lightweight. I was pleased with how ideal it was for paddling around the lake.
Beyond pedal boats, they offer canoes and kayaks. You know there’s something for everyone here, no matter your experience level or skill.
