You know that whole “New Year, New Me” thing? Yeah, that was me the entire pandemic—staring at a YouTube workout video and a half-empty protein shake in the fridge.
I’d convince myself I was going to crush that full-body workout, only to end up sprawled on the couch in my yoga pants.
That’s why this year, I figured it was time to find a place where I wouldn’t be tempted by the siren call of a comfy sofa.
So, I started looking into the best women-only gyms that are high-quality and motivate me to work out.
Here’s who made it onto my list.
How much does it cost to go to a women-only gym in Calgary?
It costs at least 20 CAD a month to go to a woman-only gym in Calgary. This price is just an estimate. The cost will vary depending on the type of membership, the gym, and any additional fees.

I love that HER GYMVMT offers a 7-day free trial of their gym membership. It’s a great way to get a feel for the gym before committing.
The gym’s stylish design is immediately appealing. The equipment is also top-notch. I’m a big fan of their Technogym Artis® line—sleek, user-friendly, and a pleasure to use.
Another highlight is their boutique locker rooms, pristine infrared sauna, and clean showers. Everything is well-maintained, making the experience feel luxurious.
Their Little MVRS childcare service also stood out to me. It’s ideal for moms wanting to get a workout in without worrying about childcare.
The variety of classes is another major plus. There’s something for everyone, from yoga and strength training to cardio and more.
The instructors were energetic, friendly, and motivating. They foster a supportive atmosphere, which makes the gym feel less intimidating.
They could improve by adding detailed class information online. A schedule with instructor details would make it easier for members to plan their workouts.
Clean and has a great variety of equipment
“This is the best gym I’ve been too!! It’s always clean, has a great variety of equipment and the classes are amazing. Khalena and Kristine were both so helpful and kind and they did a great job of touring/explaining the facility. I would highly recommend making this your new gym home!”

Top-notch spa-style locker rooms
“I cannot say enough amazing things about this gym!! It is clean, the staff is so welcoming and friendly, and it does not get crazy busy! Unlike most women’s only gyms, this place has it all. I feel like I’m in the perfect place to get all my fitness needs: all the equipment you could ever need, highly trained personal trainers who actually listen to you, and unlimited group classes with incredible instructors! They have three studios and their spin studio is nicer than some boutique places without the horrific flashing lights. The cleaners are always working hard to make sure the facility is spotless and equipment is even arranged aesthetically. The spa-style locker room is honestly such a treat – they have expensive hair tools out, shampoo/conditioner/body wash in their INDIVIDUAL showers, and an infrared sauna! I’d pay double the price I do for this membership! Don’t waste your time at any other gym, RUN to this club – it is fantastic and I will never be going anywhere else after seeing how smoothly a gym can actually run with the right staff. You will not regret joining. (Pictures taken with consent of the staff)”

Operating Hours:

I love the variety of classes at GoodLife Fitness. They offer everything from yoga and pilates to Zumba, BODYPUMP™, and more.
I tried the SoulBody BARRE class. I enjoyed how it combined elements of ballet and barre for a challenging and graceful workout.
Their selection of cardio machines is excellent. They have treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and stair climbers.
I also appreciate their range of free weights. It includes dumbbells and barbells, which are perfect for strength training.
However, the weight machines are more focused on standard exercises. For example, the gym has just one leg press machine and a limited selection of cable machines, which is a bit disappointing.
Regardless, I love the extra amenities they offer. Besides their sauna, the massage chairs are a lifesaver after a workout.
The free Wi-Fi is another bonus. This is perfect for streaming music or catching up on emails during your session.
Clean and well-maintained equipment
“I have been going to this gym off and on for almost 2 years. This gym is very cleaned and well maintained with lots of great equipment. I also loved the studio and the ability to have access to do my own zumba and dance workout. The staff, knowledgeable, friendly and polite and the manager is a complete gem and total asset to Goodlife.
I highly recommend this ladies gym and have been very happy with my health progress.”

Contact Details: +1 403-283-3200
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday- 6 AM to 10 PM
- Friday to Sunday – 7 AM to 8:30 PM
The Riverside Club’s Women’s Wellness Centre offers a free 7-day fitness pass. This includes access to the pool and indoor tennis courts—a great way to explore their facilities.
The cardio section is solid. It offers plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes. The machines felt new and well-maintained, which is always a plus.
Aside from that, I like that I rarely had to wait, except during one busy lunch hour.
The strength training area leans more toward a “boutique gym” vibe. They offer a decent selection of circuit machines, ideal for quick and efficient workouts.
However, if you’re into heavy lifting, the options are limited. They have dumbbells, but the selection isn’t huge. Besides that, the weight machines are fairly basic.
On the upside, they provide extras like resistance bands and stability balls, which I enjoy using to add variety to my routine. These small additions help keep workouts interesting and versatile.
Great amenities and a decent size gym
“Great amenities, decent size gym, two tennis courts, a separate area for women if they want.”

Small gym with an amazing atmosphere
“Small gym with an amazing atmosphere. The staff are great and the people that work out there all seem friendly and laid back. Quite a nice change from the big gym I used to go to. Love the saltwater pool as well.”

Contact Details: +1 403-300-2582
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 5 AM to 10 PM

Walking into Edgemont Athletic’s ladies-only area, I immediately felt at ease—no awkward stares, just a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
I love how they’ve thought of everything equipment-wise. I enjoyed having access to both free weights and machines. Plus, the turf area was perfect for adding variety to my workouts.
The Smith Machine was a standout for me. It provides a safe way to lift heavier weights with controlled movement.
The Technogym equipment was also excellent. It features recumbent bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and skill mills—all known for their high quality and smooth performance.
I especially loved Technogym Live. It features on-demand workouts led by top trainers from London, New York, Milan, and Los Angeles. These digital classes added a fun and motivating element to my routine.
My only drawback is that it’s expensive. The price point is definitely on the higher end.
Modern, well-maintained, and equipped with brand-new gear
“It’s expensive, but absolutely worth it! Considering the cost of classes these days, it’s actually great value for the experience you get. I joined a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t be happier with my membership. The facility is outstanding—modern, well-maintained, and equipped with brand-new gear. The classes are fantastic, offering some unique options like aerial yoga that you don’t find everywhere. I’m especially excited for the outdoor pool this summer—it feels like a resort with food and drink service, plus plenty of comfortable lounge and chair options. The boutique classes are on par with the best yoga and spin studios I’ve attended in the past. Overall, it’s been a fantastic experience so far! One last thing, Jacki is my Membership Manager and the total Bomb! She is also a Yoga instructor and awesome at that. Her positive and enthusiastic attitude is absolutely contagious and has made my experience so much better.”

Great facility with lots of equipment
“Great facility with lots of equipment. I went to this gym after outgrowing a small one. Good trainers as well. Ty is one of the best trainers in this facility. Anyone wanting to live their best life and live a healthier lifestyle, see one of their trainers”
