A retro glow in a storefront or a bold backdrop at an event can turn a dull room into one people remember. Custom signs are popping up in local cafes and studios, so a reliable shop matters.
There are plenty of sign companies out there, but not all of them master vintage glass and modern flex. So I compared local shops on materials, weather, installation and design.
Here are the best neon signs in Calgary to light up your brand.
How much does a neon sign cost in Calgary?
A neon sign in Calgary costs from $200 for a small piece up to $3,000+ for a large commercial setup. A medium business logo falls between $500 and $1,500.
| Sign type or complexity | Estimated cost (CAD) |
| Small LED (light-emitting diode) for home or events | $200 – $500 |
| Medium business logo | $500 – $1,500 |
| Large commercial setup | $1,500 – $3,000+ |

It’s hard to commit to a sign you can’t picture yet. NEON YYC SIGNAGE fixes that with free mock-ups and clear pricing within 24 hours of your enquiry. They also offer unlimited design revisions, so you pay nothing until the proof matches your vision.
They build everything from scratch locally, using durable LED flex that mimics classic glass without the fragile, buzzing tubes.
My friend recently ordered a custom piece for his home bar here, and he loved the speedy two-week turnaround.
However, standard units are built for dry indoor spaces, so you must request a weatherproof build to hang one outside.
Once you approve the design and pay, work starts right away, and no changes are allowed.
Seamless Process and Excellent Signage Quality
I recently ordered a custom sign for my new restaurant and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The process was seamless from start to finish, clear communication, quick responses, and a great design that perfectly matched my vision. The quality of the final product exceeded my expectations, and the pricing was very competitive compared to other options I looked into.
If you’re looking for any type of signage, especially neon signs, I highly recommend NEON YYC. Extremely professional and truly delivers on quality and service. Check out the photo of the sign they made for me!

2. FASTSIGNS of Northeast Calgary, AB
Website: fastsigns.com/northeast-calgary-ab/
Address: 615 35 Ave NE, AB
Contact: (403) 768-2101
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Saturday, By Appointment
Getting through city zoning rules for a new sign can be a headache. FASTSIGNS of Northeast Calgary takes it off your plate by handling all the city permits and paperwork, which keeps your timeline from stalling at City Hall.
A project manager also oversees the whole schedule, so you can focus on running your business.
They pair that local know-how with design software to make accurate, lit business signs.
Their certified crew even brings rigging gear to mount heavy digital signs safely, which matters for large signs that a regular crew can’t hang.
However, weekend availability is tight, since they only take Saturday meetings by appointment.
3. Unique Neon Inc

Address: 4301C – 9th Street SE, AB

Authentic hand-bent glass is rare these days. At Unique Neon Inc, Gary Cash personally bends every piece in their local shop, bringing over three decades of trade experience to new designs and delicate vintage restorations.
They also own three large cranes for big, high installs, which avoids rental delays on large jobs.
A local diner owner I chatted with praised their certified crew, who safely mounted an intricate retro display above his storefront.
However, relying on one master craftsman for all glass bending can stretch turnaround times in busy seasons.
They also use only Alanson LED lighting for back-lit signs, so clients who need other brands’ modules are locked into one brand for repairs.
4. Planet Signs
Website: planetsigns.ca
Address: 3600 19 Street, Bay 1, NE, AB
Contact: (403) 477-4247 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Outdoor signs have to survive Calgary’s freezing winters. Planet Signs engineers their signs to handle those temperatures, and they pair that outdoor strength with modern LED lights that keep your power bills low over time.
They also make 3D previews before they build, so you can check the size and colours right away. They even handle city permits, which means you don’t have to chase approvals yourself.
Their whole design and build process sits under one roof. This gives them tight quality control over custom-shaped signs from the first sketch to the final glow.
However, purists who want traditional gas-filled glass tubes will need to look elsewhere, because they work only with modern digital alternatives.
High-Quality Signage and Professional Team
Great experience with Planet Signs! The team was very professional, friendly, and easy to work with. They helped create high-quality signage and paid attention to every detail. The final result looked amazing and was completed on time. Their pricing is also very reasonable for the quality of work they provide. I would definitely recommend Planet Signs to anyone in Calgary looking for reliable and professional sign services.

A big business sign has to be safe before it looks good. National Neon Signs backs that up with fully certified engineering drawings for every big build.
They also use independent testing by the Canadian Standards Association, which checks that each sign meets local electrical rules.
Materials come from trusted regional suppliers, helping their signs last. Their large local plant also houses advanced equipment run by craftsmen who understand classic tube bending.
However, their project management is reserved for larger rollouts and complex campaigns.
Their tech support team also focuses on digital signs, so customers with traditional electrical signs don’t get specialized help.
Outstanding Service and High Quality Products
National Neon Signs was an absolutely pleasure to work with. The customer service was exceptional and the quality is 10/10. Kent and his crew were fantastic. We are thrilled with them and would recommend them with full confidence. They delivered exactly what we asked for and worked hard to meet the deadline that we aimed for.
