Full disclosure: even as a proud pet owner, I’m horrible with bugs. I’ve gotten way better at getting ticks off my pups and I’ve even called up some pest control services to keep my home free, but as we know, there’s a truly staggering variety of bugs out there.
Recently, my newest issue has been mosquitoes. These buggers have a pretty rough reputation of carrying diseases like dengue and malaria, but my beef with them starts from a humbler place. I’ve lost so many trains of thought due to stings from these!
Well, I’ve just about had it. I crashed with my family for a bit to look into mosquito control here in Calgary to try and solve my mosquito problem. With no shortage of companies, we rounded up our top picks to call. I personally can’t wait to stop itching!

A massive part of pest control is identifying how the pests got in, and trying to block those off for the near future. Since knowing is half the battle, we were pleased by Orkin Canada Pest Control’s showing with their inspections.
Even before we booked an inspection, we found the team refreshingly proactive and responsive. The team didn’t leave us waiting for a response for long, letting us know about their mosquito control services and what products they used.
Of course, we took the chance to oversee their inspection and weren’t disappointed. We admired the team’s attention to detail during the whole inspection, identifying any entry and exit points as well as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
The advice they left us with after was also in-depth and easy to follow. These helped set a guideline for us to keep in mind to make sure mosquitoes stay out of our home for longer!
With that in mind, we did face some trouble with our initial appointment. Our initial consultation got delayed on short notice, so we’d definitely recommend following up on your confirmed schedule on the day of just in case.

One of the worst kinds of infestations are the ones that we couldn’t plan for. We might not always have the proper budget on hand for getting a proper service, so we were pleased to find options like Technica Pest Solutions here in Calgary!
The first thing we immediately noticed was the offer of same-day services. Their schedule was rather open from what we got to see, so this was a plus in our book for clients looking to get their mosquito problem sorted out quickly.
Their mosquito control services weren’t anything to scoff at either. These were largely carried out via fogging or misting, which we found well suited for both indoor and outdoor areas. No need to worry about mosquitoes buzzing around your barbecue!
All of these came at surprisingly reasonable prices as well, which was a plus in our book! We found their quotes rather budget-friendly, especially with the products used and the coverage of each treatment.
That being said, we were made aware of the team’s strict scheduling. If you see yourself being unable to be present on the day of the service, we’d definitely recommend consulting with them on how to reschedule just in case.

Pest control is one of those things that can be daunting for pet owners especially. Our pets can get into spots we can’t and be exposed to certain chemicals, so we were particularly relieved to stumble on Major Pest Control as an option!
What first caught our attention was the transparency of their treatment plans. The team was quick to let us know about each step in their process when we reached out, helping outline what they would be applying and how long it needs to take effect.
We also have to praise the team’s timeliness. We didn’t have trouble booking an initial inspection, and the team was quick and punctual on the day of. They managed to inspect the space without much fuss, leaving little to clean up after.
One factor we especially appreciated was how flexible the team was with requests too! We were able to point out particular areas we wanted treated, and we were even able to request that they use pet-friendly products if they could.
One factor that could delay your service is the quote, however. We did observe quite the long wait to receive our quote after the initial inspection and treatment plan.

This takes our pick for the catchiest name! It can always be a source of peace to have a company regularly come in to help with your pest control, and our search eventually led us to Buzz Boss’s doorstep.
Just from a quick look at their services, we were pleased with their regular pest control offers. These covered seasonal insect control for everything from mosquitoes to ants, which can be handy for homes in areas prone to infestation.
With regards to mosquito control, what really caught our attention was the offer of unlimited resprays! We found that these could help with recurring infestations or to help address any further complications after the initial spraying.
Finally, we also noted the team’s responsiveness. We especially liked the team providing timely updates and reports, helping us keep track with descriptions, pictures and a dedicated report to identify problem areas and what steps we could take.
Where we did run into a bit of an issue was with the quote. We found that their quotes could abruptly change between the initial booking and the inspection, so we’d allot some wiggle room in your budget if you plan to go forward with them.
