If you know me, you know I spend a whole lot of time in front of a screen. And to no one’s surprise, literal hours of not moving from my desk does a number on my looks. Dark circles, oily skin, a thousand-yard stare. Talk about a jumpscare. Yikes.
To be totally honest, I can count on one hand every time I’ve gone to an aesthetic clinic, and it’s usually at the behest of my friends. But my last experience with a chemical peel went so well that I couldn’t resist exploring facials further!
There’s no shortage of spas to get facials in Calgary, so getting started with one can be tricky. Luckily, this meant I got to be the one to drag the ladies out to help me round up some of the best ones, and here’s what we ended up with. Let’s get glowing!

Getting yourself a facial in Calgary can cost you anywhere from $60 to $325 per 60-minute session, with prices varying depending on the type of facial, length of the session and particular products used.

Who says going for a facial needs to be a hush-hush experience? The Face Skin & Body Bar landed on our radar for its reportedly unique, open-concept approach to treatments, so we couldn’t resist seeing what the fuss was about!
Right off the jump, we found their physical location to be very easy to spot even with minimal directions. The spa also had ample parking in and around the building, which was handy for our group since we arrived in separate cars.
We weren’t disappointed upon walking in! The layout reminded us more of a classic hair salon where customers could see others getting their facials. When our turn came up, this also made it refreshingly easy to chat with each other.
The facials and treatments themselves were also refreshing. We especially enjoyed the massages offered throughout, which did wonders with getting even our most nervous members to calm down and get immersed.
One thing we did note about the service was that the initial consultations ran on limited time. This could mean clients not understanding which facial to go for with their skin’s health, so we’d advise preparing some questions beforehand.

One big factor involved in facials is the products. Toners, moisturizers, exfoliators, cleansers, the list goes on! If you’re looking to get a start on your own skincare routine, then Skoah Kensington might be worth a visit,
The first thing we appreciated was how approachable the team was on our visit. Each esthetician we got to talk to was pleasant, and we found it easy to have some casual, laidback consultations before the service.
What we liked most about their communication was how transparent and upfront they were. Even during the service, the team was always open about exactly which products and brands they were using along with which step they were on.
Speaking of the products, we got to check some out and were pleased by what we found. These felt comfortable during our facials and didn’t irritate some of us with skin sensitivities, and there were vegan products available as well.
That being said, we did note that the starting price point for their facials and treatments was on the higher side. We’d definitely save a trip here as a treat for yourself after payday!

“I had a great experience! I have VERY sensitive skin, and was not irritated at all by any products. My face felt amazing the next day! The lady who did my facial checked in with me throughout to make sure I was responding okay to everything. Although they recommend their products (i’ve work in sales… it is a very normal part of the job), when I referred to other places who sell the same product for cheaper, she was happy to discuss those products. I did not feel pushed at all to buy their products, but did end up getting the acne face wash (which is amazing and does not irritate my sensitive skin at all). Anyone would know that skincare can be a lifelong process, given the daily wear and tear our skin goes through. Fortunately, our search led us to the Utopia Spa Center, which rose to prominence for personalized facials and skincare.
We spotted positives right from the initial consultations. These were notably in-depth, with the team helping go through our skin types, general health, and how best to maintain and revitalize our skin accordingly.
These helped in the drafting and creation of personalized treatment plans, which was definitely a plus in our book. The treatment plans were clearly outlined and easy to follow, with plenty of product recommendations on top!
They had a wide variety of facials available, from their signature facials to deep cleansing. These came in treatment packages as well, which we found handy for customers looking to come in regularly.
On that note, we did hear that the scheduling at the spa could be a little tricky. The spa reportedly had trouble informing customers of their appointments getting delayed quickly, leading to some customers coming in anyway.

Getting seriously into your skincare routine can be very daunting, and for good reason. With so many products and steps to choose from, having a regular spa to consult when you’re lost is handy. With that in mind, we were pleased to find Vivi Aesthetics & Spa!
While there, we were blown away by all the resources available at the clinic. The team was happy to walk us through each treatment, its benefits and how to prepare, and we found out that these resources were accessible online as well!
The team was equally as attentive during the facials. We definitely appreciated how accommodating of our requests they were, whether we were looking to get the chairs adjusted for our comfort or asking for vegan products only.
Finally, their aftercare advice was also reliable and easy to follow! If you go for a heavier facial treatment like microneedling, we’d definitely recommend getting advice here for your healing process.
But be warned: the location can be tricky to get to. We had some trouble finding any parking space, so we parked a ways off and made our way to the spa on foot.

Want to look and feel like your favorite K-pop idol? So did we, so you can only imagine how our discovery of the OOYU Skin Medi Spa felt like striking gold. With a spa like this, you don’t even need to fly all the way out to Seoul!
Even before our visit, we were pleased by how quickly the team got back to us when we reached out. We found their communication to be very clear, outlining what products they used, the steps they took for facials and even how to get a free consultation!
Of course, we immediately looked into their Korean beauty treatments. A particular standout was their Kyung-lak face sculpting massage, which went perfectly with their deep cleaning facials.
And a deep clean they did. Right after the service, we found ourselves feeling quite refreshed as soon as we stepped out! Having quick results like this can help with those looking to just drop in to relax for a while and feel good going home.
Speaking of dropping in, there’s a bit of a wait to be seen at the spa. We’d definitely recommend bringing something to pass the time with!
