The 5 Best Fabric Shops in Calgary for Creative and Quality Threads

Selection & Material Quality: We assessed the variety of textiles available, checking for durable cottons and rich garment knits. Higher scores went to shops that maintain consistent stock across diverse project types.

Staff Expertise & Customer Service: We looked at how helpful and knowledgeable the staff were when assisting shoppers. Attentive service makes a massive difference for both beginners and seasoned sewers.

Speciality Offerings & Classes: We evaluated secondary services such as machine maintenance, sewing workshops, and Do It Yourself (DIY) project kits. Stores with hands-on learning and specialised gear earned extra points.

Pricing & Value: We compared cost against textile quality to ensure buyers get fair market rates for their materials. Clear pricing and accessible clearance sections added overall value to the shopping experience.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of running your hands over a bolt of buttery-soft linen or breathtaking designer silk. For the city’s fashion creators, tailors, and home decorators, fabric hunting is practically a competitive sport.

The material can make or break your design, whether you’re stitching up custom apparel or updating your living room drapery. Don’t worry, we’ve got plenty of textile spots.

We rounded up the best fabric shops in Calgary where you can buy quality materials and rare prints. Read on before it’s time to sew!

Customer Reviews

It was a very exceptional experience

Tiana (I think that is how it is spelled) was an incredible help and very kind. We were on our last day in Calgary and I needed to a fabric store. When we arrived we were greeted and given all the details of the fabric we selected. It was a very exceptional experience! Thanks Tiana. 😊 I got home and made this with one of the fabrics I selected!

We were able to choose our own fabric

My sister and I took the ribbon skirt making workshop here and had a wonderful experience! We were able to choose our own fabric, ribbons and thread from a plentiful and beautiful selection. Fabrics were designed in house and are completely unique and beautiful. Devon was a wonderful teacher and reignited my passion for sewing, something I hadn’t done in over 20 years.
