Finding a decent cup of coffee in this city is like finding a free parking spot downtown—it’s almost impossible.
I’ve had my fair share of lukewarm lattes and burnt espresso, which tastes more like charred toast than coffee.
It’s enough to make any caffeine lover lose hope, but it also fueled my search for something better.
After countless cups, I’ve finally uncovered the best spots for caffeine enthusiasts like me. Now, I’m excited to share them with you.
Here are my favorite places in Calgary to grab a great cup of coffee.
How much does it cost to get a cup of coffee in Calgary?
It costs at least 2 CAD to get a cup of coffee in Calgary. This is just an estimate. The actual cost will depend on the cup size, the type of coffee you get, and the coffee shop.

1. Cafe Jindo

Address: 8330 Macleod Trail Unit F7
Contact Details: +1 587-353-4728
Operating Hours:
- Tuesday to Saturday – 8 AM to 6 PM
- Sunday & Monday – 8 AM to 4 PM
If you appreciate the artistry of in-house roasted beans, Cafe Jindo is a must-visit. I love how they organize their blends into four flavor profiles—Earth, Moon, Sun, and Heaven. It feels thoughtful and makes choosing a coffee a little adventure.
When I visit, I always go for their coffee flights. It’s such a cool way to try a variety of roasts and maybe discover a new favorite.
If I’m sticking to the menu, their mocha is a go-to. It’s got that perfect mix of chocolate and coffee. Their espresso is also surprisingly smooth.
I’ve also had their Violet Crumble and Midnight Cinderella blends, and they didn’t disappoint. The Violet Crumble from Mexico has this mix of caramel apple and purple florals.
The Midnight Cinderella, from Burundi, is equally enjoyable. It has peach and butterscotch flavors—a unique profile that’s fun to explore.
But aside from coffee, their waffle is a total win. They’re fluffy with just the right amount of indulgence—definitely worth a try.
The only disappointment was the unclean restroom. It’s a minor letdown that detracts from an otherwise great experience.
Friendly owner and staff
“Lovely place. The Korean Ruben is to die for. They truly know the art of coffee here. They also have AC. The owner and staff are very friendly. A must go for any coffee lover.”

Reasonably priced coffee
“Absolutely fantastic experience. My husband and I got a coffee flight here. Not only was it very reasonably priced, but we were given a lot of information about coffee and the whole process of it. It was a lovely experience and I cannot recommend it enough. You can tell how passionate they are about coffee. Super glad we went!”

2. Congress Coffee Company

Address: 215 36 Ave NE #1A
Contact Details: +1 403-452-7320
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 7 AM to 5 PM
- Saturday & Sunday – 9 AM to 5 PM
I keep returning to Congress Coffee Company because of their Pay What You Feel drip coffee. It’s smooth and flavorful, with rich chocolate and nutty notes. I also love the flexibility of paying what you think it’s worth.
During the holidays, I like to treat myself to their eggnog latte. It’s creamy, spiced just right, and feels like a little cup of festive cheer.
Plus, the fact that they roast their small-batch coffee in-house is a huge win for me. Their subscription service is such a nice touch. Knowing I can deliver freshly roasted beans to my door is a game-changer.
The vibe here is something I really appreciate. The 90s-style ambiance gives the place so much character. Add in the live music events, and it’s a spot where you can quickly lose track of time.
What really stands out, though, are their community-driven initiatives. From visual art and drag to poetry and burlesque, they create a space where creativity thrives.
The only downside for me is the limited parking. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it can be a bit of a hassle, especially when the place is busy.
The coolest coffee shop in the city
“This place is the coolest coffee shop in the city. Best tasting drinks and food. Made from scratch. Lots of events – check out that stage! Hidden gem, I’m so glad I stumbled on… Look at my little cookie on my holiday drink 🥹 THANK YOU CONGRESS TEAM!”

3. Crystie’s Coffee House and Bistro

Address: 2121 194 Ave SE #105
Contact Details: +1 587-578-2037
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 6 AM to 6 PM
Crystie’s Coffee House and Bistro is a dog-lovers paradise. They welcome furry friends with open arms (and free water bowls!). They even offer a special “puppy parfait” that’s bound to make tails wag.
I love their diverse selection of beans from farmers in Costa Rica, Panama, and Ethiopia.
My favorite is the cortado. It’s velvety, subtly sweet, and always hits the spot. I also enjoy their golden hue and warm, earthy spice turmeric latte.
But it’s not just about coffee here—Crystie’s also serves a great selection of soups, sandwiches, and baked goods. My go-to is the crispy bacon grilled cheese. It’s simple but satisfying, and I can’t get enough of it.
If I had one minor complaint, I wish they offered more gluten-free options. It’s a drawback for those with dietary restrictions.
Even so, I love the warm and inviting atmosphere. The owners are some of the friendliest people I’ve met.
Cozy yet spacious coffee shop
“Cute little cofee shop. We looked up on google for cozy cofee shop near us and we found this and the ambience was nice and cozy. Place was quite spacious with tables well spaced out to sit down chill and have a conversation. We tried few drinks and they were well made and served right to our table. Staff was curteous. Price was about right. Ample parking and washroom and washrooms arent for public. Over all recommemded to trial. Check out my other reviews for great food options in Calgary. Follow for more.”

4. Sought and Found Coffee Roasters

Address: 916 Centre St N
Contact Details: +1 403-830-7278
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 7:30 AM to 7 PM
- Saturday – 7:30 AM to 6 PM
- Sunday – 9 AM to 4 PM
Sought & Found has these innovative coffee flights that they switch up monthly with new blends. Honestly, I get excited to see what new flavors they’ll come up with.
I sampled their Flight of 3 Coffees 1 Way, and it didn’t disappoint. It features three different coffee types, all brewed with the pour-over method.
As a sucker for fruity coffee, the Brazil Silmara Emerick Red Catuai Black Honey was a favorite. The fruity notes with hints of navel orange and cranberry were so satisfying.
On the other hand, the Bolivia Julio Palli Anaerobic caught me by surprise with its complexity. I loved the mix of apricot, cashew, and elderflower.
And the Ethiopian Bombe Lot 70 Natural was brimming with pomegranate flavors, peach, and more. It was so good that I almost ordered another flight to try again.
Beyond the coffee, the shop itself is a relaxing escape. The warm atmosphere, lush plants, and artwork make it a space you want to linger in.
The only downside for me was the pastries. They were served a bit too cold. It threw off the experience, but it’s a minor complaint considering how incredible the coffee is.
Fantastic coffee shop and roaster
“Fantastic coffee shop and roaster. Kind of a purist’s spot for espresso – as opposed to looking for a 32 oz caramel Frappuccino or whatever.
I loved being offered so many different bean options for my black espresso. The folks working there were knowledgeable and super friendly.
I had an espresso and cortado – both were fantastic. Also tried one of their everything croissants – not for purists, haha – and it was very good.
I’m only in Calgary for a couple of days but I hope I have time to go back before I leave.”

Great in-depth filter and espresso coffee experience
“Great in-depth filter and espresso coffee experience! Very knowledgeable, polite and informative baristas! All the coffees are available to be served in a cup. Had a flight of 3 coffees, as well as a cup of the Ecuadorian CM Washed. The former one was very bright and rum-chocolatey-like. They also seem to have like 8 espresso options! Pity I couldn’t enjoy those, since I was already high on caffeine. Got a decaf though, and it was very good! I can tell the espresso drinks are starring here as well!
Highly recommended for an in-depth specialty coffee shop!”

5. Bono Coffee Roasters

Address: 733 1 Ave NE
Contact Details: +1 403-200-2166
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 7 AM to 9 PM
What I love most about Bono Coffee Roasters is their traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremonies. It’s such a beautiful and aromatic ritual that truly brings out the best in their beans.
I like watching the gentle process of brewing the coffee in a jebena—a traditional clay pot. Drinking coffee from cute tiny clay cups is such an enjoyable experience.
Their cappuccino is the real standout. It’s creamy and packed with nuanced flavors, thanks to their use of fine Arabica beans.
However, the cookies I ordered were disappointing—they were stale and lacked flavor. It was a real letdown, especially if you enjoy fresh cookies.
Regardless, I like how the coffee shop has a lovely, quiet ambiance. It has long wooden workstations and artistic touches adorning the white walls.
I also found their coffee delivery service really convenient. Whether you prefer ground or whole beans, they deliver right to your doorstep.
I even tried their subscription box for a month and was impressed with its prompt delivery. The quality of the beans was excellent. I enjoyed the rich, complex flavors of their Ethiopian roasts.
Authentic Ethiopian tradition meets bold, flavorful lattes
“Authentic Ethiopian tradition meets bold, flavorful lattes at Bono Cafe. Owned by a delightful husband and wife duo, their monthly traditional coffee ceremonies are a must-try. Having experienced it three times, each visit is a journey through rich culture and delicious brews. The cozy ambiance and genuine hospitality make it a standout gem in the coffee scene.”
