Calgary’s Best: The Top 6 Bike Trails in the City! 

Dust off those bike helmets, Calgary! Today, we’re going on an exciting cycling escapade across the city. 

The mission? To find the ultimate trail that will make your heart pump with excitement!

You don’t need to be a seasoned cyclist who can continuously cycle for 100 miles (that’s 160 kilometers) in order to enjoy the rides we’ve picked, fortunately. In fact, you can be someone who thinks that a bike chain is just a mere accessory to elevate your outfit, as you’ll see below.

1. Glenmore Reservoir

Located on the Elbow River, Glenmore Reservoir is a man-made reservoir where Calgarians get their drinking water. Aside from providing water supply to thirsty locals, it also serves as an enticing location that caters to multiple outdoor activities – including cycling, of course. 

Perfect for beginners, this trail is mostly flat with the occasional guest appearance of hills even kids could effortlessly navigate. 

2. Bow River Pathway

Up for a slight challenge? Try the Bow River pathway! 

It starts at Fish Creek Provincial Park leading up to the Bow River Pathway in the north. That said, cyclists have the choice to start and end their excursion anytime. 

Considered a route with moderate difficulty, it has a few hills, so be ready for those. However, if you’re not a complete beginner, you might just be able to breeze through this one.

If you’re looking for a quick cycling session, look no further. Prairie Winds Park offers a tranquil 1.4km loop trail. 

There are also usually a few people around, which we find delightful. Of course, expect the occasional families with kids in tow. 

In addition to biking, the park also offers a diverse range of recreational amenities, including a kiddie playground and several sports facilities.

Nose Hill Park provides an exhilarating venue for outdoor enthusiasts. Spanning approximately 1,129 hectares it has diverse trails and offers dirt, paved, and gravel paths. Aside from flat trails, it also features an exciting downhill path, perfect for those who want that adrenaline rush!

Stretching over a 12-hectare space, Baker Park is located on the west end tail of the city. It’s a picturesque location we’re sure outdoor adventurers would love.
