Introducing escape rooms, where you can live out this fantasy! We actually have a fair number of them here in Calgary, so we on The Best Calgary staff decided to get together for several weekends and try them all out.
Below are the ones that we thought were the best options after all of our sleuthing.

One of the most popular escape rooms in Calgary, Escape Hour offers exciting experiences that summon all sorts of emotions.
They only have two rooms available but both are great. Like Bank Heist, which is good for 2 to 9 people. You’ll get to interact with their realistically made set pieces while orchestrating an incredible heist with hopes of leaving unscathed.
They also have a Matrix-themed room where you’ll need to escape to do a heroic job of saving humanity. It’s good for 2 to 8 people and like the other one, should be finished in about an hour.

If you’re looking for an escape room establishment offering a variety of experiences, be sure to explore The Locked Room. They have 3 Calgary locations, all of which have 4 different kinds of rooms.
At the Calgary Fairmount Dr., we recommend you try The Great Train Heist if you really want to know what it feels like to be in an action movie. They say this one’s best for groups of 4 to 8.
The one at Calgary Southeast has equally exciting games! The room called Captivity might ignite your love for horror and slasher movies like Saw.
Lastly, they also have a store in Calgary Northeast where the rooms are usually focused on puzzle solving rather than the filling of thrill and fear. For example, there’s the Quizzler’s Revenge where you need to find and deactivate a bomb – that was pretty fun.

Escape60 is an escape room like no other, offering not only exciting experiences but also boasting a stylish bar where you can unwind and celebrate your victories.
They’re also open for corporate events, so if you’re looking for a unique venue for your team-building activities, you might want to consider them.
Anyway, they have a lot of escape rooms to choose from in their Downtown establishment. As of writing, they have 10 options, with another 3 coming up in 2024.
If you’re a fan of the Jurassic Park movie installations, you get to live out your dreams of being a paleontologist in a theme park at the Jurassic Escape. They mentioned that the challenge rate is moderate but to be honest, it felt much more challenging than what we had expected!

They have a lot of uniquely themed rooms that aren’t only well-designed but intriguing. For instance, anime enthusiasts would love this location. Their Death Note-themed room is an absolute must-see!

Arcadia Escape Room is another one that stands out among the escape rooms in Calgary for their range of captivating experiences. As of writing, they offer 5 different types of escape rooms for you to explore with your friends or colleagues.
As avid fans of World War Z, Quarantine, 28 Days Later, and Train to Busan (the list can go on and on, to be honest), Survival at Z-Hour made us feel like we’re in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. We recommend that one most!
7. Exit Calgary

Another notable escape room worth adding to the list is Exit. Out of their five available rooms, Tokyo Rush, their standout attraction, also happens to be our favorite one.
Without giving out too many details, the game starts during an ordinary night at a lovely karaoke place in one of the best cities on Earth. Not soon after, there’ll be an unexpected turn of events, which is just the start of an interesting adventure.

Amaze: Calgary Escape Game is one of the top crowd pleasers on this list. They offer remarkably immersive and innovative games that would ensure participants a unique experience within each cleverly designed room.
Despite currently having only three rooms available, their lack of variety shouldn’t be a cause for disappointment. In fact, it seems that they focused on quality over quantity!
Tesla’s Study has got to be our top pick solely because it surpassed our expectations. It’s probably the one out of the bunch that made us feel like we were transported to a different reality!

Escape Ops emerged as one of the top favorites among our team! If you like puzzles and sci-fi, then buckle up. You’ll surely enjoy Hyperspace where you and your group will undertake an important interstellar mission of repairing an aircraft.
Moreover, fans of the popular video game called Shrine will be thrilled to know that Escape Ops also has a Shrine-themed escape room. Based on the experience of several of our staff, you’ll still be able to enjoy solving the exciting puzzles even if you haven’t heard of the game.
