How to Get Around Edgemont

Taxis: Going around Edgemont is easy to do by foot. However, nothing beats the convenience of taxis! If you see one on the street, flag it down. Otherwise, you can always call the dispatch company (403-777-1111) or head over to the taxi stands around the area.

There’s a delicious pizza place in the heart of Edgemont called Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Despite the name, it’s a locally-owned restaurant that just happens to serve – of course – Chicago-style pizza. 

They have numerous flavours available such as super hot (with lots of chilli & jalapeno peppers, pepperoni, salami, bacon, and beef) and pretty lady (pepperoni, mushrooms, bacon, green peppers, olives, and onions).

Edgemont Palace serves delicious Chinese dishes that are meant to excite your taste buds. 

Their most popular dishes are the peking duck and spring rolls. Both are delicious – however, our favorite would be the peking duck, which also comes with fried rice and chow mein.

True to its name, you’ll surely be wowed as soon as you bite their crispy and juicy chicken. Their most popular flavor is the original one, but we also suggest trying out the Gang-Jeong Chicken with sweet or spicy sauce, quite popular in Korean chicken.

If you’re a beginner, you’ll be paired with experienced players that will guide you throughout the program.

One of the things we like about Calgary is how you’ll never run out of open green spaces to explore. Much like the rest of the city, Edgemont also has one where you can play numerous outdoor or field sports called Zach Park. 

Additionally, you can even walk your dogs here, jog, do yoga, set up a picnic – the possibilities are endless!

Edgemont Ravine offers plenty of opportunities to walk, hike, or cycle while being surrounded by nature views in the 35.5-acre worth of land.  

There’s a beautiful lake you won’t miss and interesting rabbit sculptures worth checking out. Going here during the fall is guaranteed to be extra-lovely.

The Edgemont Athletic is a fitness club that offers numerous fun opportunities for one to stay in shape. There’s a pool, a tennis court, and tons of equipment to suit anyone’s needs. You can even participate in a game of squash!

If you find yourself with muscle aches after your session, you can head over to their in-house chiropractor to relieve those tensions. 

Bring your kids to John Laurie Park

The John Laurie Park is one of the 1,100 playgrounds in Calgary. Plenty of locals take their kids here so they can enjoy the slides, monkey bars, swings, and plenty more. They can even meet fellow kids their age.

The Edgemont Lookout Point is a local hiking spot unknown to a lot of visitors. If you’re looking for an easy hiking trail with gorgeous views on top, we highly suggest checking out this place. 

Aside from hiking, one can also walk, jog, and cycle in this area. If you have a dog, you can also bring them here even without their leash.

We find that the best time to go here is during late afternoon so you can catch the sunset from the top.
