When my friend checked into a rehab facility a couple of years ago, we all hoped it would mark the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Unfortunately, her experience was anything but positive.
The staff, while well-meaning, seemed overworked and underresourced. She ended up feeling more isolated and misunderstood than before, leading to an early departure and a heartbreaking relapse.
Witnessing her struggles moved me to look into treatment centres in Calgary that are actually helpful. I had some help from the rest of The Best Calgary team in sorting out the best.
After speaking with several treatment centres and their patients, scrutinising every detail from staff qualifications to the kind of therapies offered, here are the best treatment centres in Calgary we found.
How much does it cost to go to a treatment centre in Calgary? Going to a treatment centre in Calgary costs at least $500. The actual price will vary depending on whether the centre offers inpatient or outpatient programs. |

1. Trifecta Addiction & Mental Health Services
Contact Details:+15878543887
Operating Hours: Open 24 Hours
If you or someone you know is looking for a comprehensive and personalised approach to addiction treatment, Trifecta might just be the place to check out
From what we gathered, the treatment here is very personalised. Many told us they felt seen and heard, right from the comprehensive addiction assessments to the individualised therapy sessions.
We also noted how the therapists use evidence-based approaches like neuroplasticity, CBT, and DBT. People we spoke to said they felt real shifts in their thinking and behaviour thanks to counselling sessions using these methods.
Most of their services are completely virtual, except for their 30-day recovery boot camp. We’ve been told it’s intense but in a good way.
That being said, they don’t have an actual in-patient program you can check into if you need around-the-clock addiction assistance.

His approach is what actually works during and after treatment
Joe has a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill he brings to this business. Completely professional and compassionate he offers hope and insight to those he works with and their families. His approach is what actually works during and after treatment by helping to facilitate real change by teaching coping skills and how to manoeuvre in the real world. We cannot say enough about him that can express how much he has assisted our son and family! He changed our lives and we are forever greatful 🙏🏻❤️😊

For those searching, you have come to the right place
“Many years ago I worked with Joe the Director of Trifecta Addiction. He always was very dedicated and proficient in whatever challenges came his way. One of his strongest strengths was persevering and seeing positive outcomes. As time passed we became close friends, and I also saw his inner self and the history of his own struggles, and his victories along the way. Joe has been a great friend and mentor for me, and many others since.. He really stood out as someone who knows what tough love means. Who better to understand where people have come from and show the hope and direction they need to change their life.
For those searching, you have come to the right place. Good Luck!

Contact Details: +15877774722
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Nam Recovery is supportive and works for people from all walks of life. Their services are available in English and Punjabi, ensuring accessibility to diverse range of clients.
Their Personalised Recovery Program (PRP) is a flexible, medically supervised program for people in crisis or who have trouble making regular appointments. It teaches patients various techniques to tackle stress and addiction cravings, such as flash walking and trauma tapping.
They also have an intensive outpatient program, which is split into Levels 1 and 2. It’s all about experiential learning and holistic recovery. Participants work through negative coping mechanisms and learn healthier habits to reduce stress.
For men seeking more structured support, the residential treatment program is helpful for those who don’t have a lot of resources. Nam gives low-cost housing options, and access to recovery groups for men who participate in this program.
On the flip side, a challenge some mentioned is the emotional intensity. Several said they felt like they were in a pressure cooker of emotions, which can be taxing, especially if you’re not used to opening up.

Has helped me to understand myself on a deeper level
I am sincerely grateful for this incredible team. Dr. G is very thoughtful in his approach and also authentically kind. He has taken the time to listen to my difficulties and provides helpful insight. Dr. G has helped me to understand myself on a deeper level and offers techniques to help me reconnect my body/mind/spirit. He is continually studying new ideas and practices to bring the best care to his clients, and takes into consideration the best fit for the individual.
The receptionist is very personable and takes the time to find the best appointment for my schedule. I wish there were more clinics like this, I know there is a definite need, and they are often working overtime.
One of a kind- a 10 out of 5.

Contact Details: +14039842707
Operating Hours: Open 24 Hours
Alcove specifically helps women struggling with addiction, mental health issues, and histories of abuse.
What truly makes Alcove special is that they’re the only place in the area that lets mothers and their kids stay together while they get better. Moms are relieved that they don’t have to make the painful choice of leaving their child to get help.
For many people, the 12-week live-in plan has helped them successfully recover. In addition to psychoeducation, they offer life and job skills training to help women get back on their feet.
On top of that, patients love the recreation activities the centre provides. Whether it’s yoga or group outings, we noted that many women found the peer support invaluable.
They also offer family programs, which is a big deal for repairing those strained relationships. Their cooking classes and parent training were huge hits.
We also can’t ignore the online treatments, which are free! That makes it easier for people who can’t physically be there to still get the help they need.
That being said, some women felt the shared living spaces could sometimes get overwhelming.

4. Sunshine Coast Health Centre
Address: 1816 Crowchild Trail NW #700, Calgary, AB T2M 3Y7, Canada
Contact Details: +15876002344
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Sunshine Coast Health Centre is known for its sense of community and holistic approach, which includes nutrition, fitness, and specialised bodywork.
People really liked the personalised attention they got. Many told us that the 24-hour medical care was a lifesaver, especially during those tough withdrawal phases. The on-site medical staff is always ready to step in, which brings a lot of peace of mind.
The mix of group therapy and individual counselling—daily group sessions and at least one personal session each week—really helped create a balanced approach to healing for many.
For those dealing with occupational trauma, like firefighters and veterans, this place has been a haven. They have a bunch of specialised one-on-one sessions designed specifically for them.
However, several people felt they didn’t have enough time to just sit back and process things on their own. So, if you’re looking for a more relaxed pace, that’s something to keep in mind.

My experience helped me understand my past and redefine my present and future. It is absolutely the best investment you can make in your future. No matter what issue is impacting your life, their process and the connections you make will help you find the things like purpose, excitement, self-esteem , peace that you have been looking for. No matter the issue they are there to help and provide exceptional service
“I never was able to see myself being comfortable enough to attend a recovery center. I thought of it as being weak, or having a problem. Although from the moment I first contacted them I felt that this was a place that I could feel comfortable being in. The staff from Oriana in accounting to the nurses I met walking through the front doors at intake were amazingly non judgmental, kind and accepting no matter who you are. The cleaning, kitchen and maintenance staff were so kind, open and understanding. No matter the issue they are there to help and provide exceptional service. And then the amazing team of doctors, therapists, councilors and people in client services are unreal in there commitment to every ones recovery. Attending Sunshine Coast Health Center was the best choice I have made in my road to recovery. My band of brothers I met at the center are an extension of my family. Long live the Brotherhood.”

5. Calgary Dream Centre
Address: 4510 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary, AB T2G 0A4, Canada
Contact Details: +14032435598
Operating Hours: Open 24 Hours
Calgary Dream Centre seems to be a place that genuinely changes lives, and we’ve seen it firsthand.
People who find themselves homeless and struggling with addiction come to these doors in search of a lifeline. And they find more than just help—they find hope.
For men, the 90-day full-time recovery program offers a holistic approach. Many told us they appreciated the group classes on mindfulness, emotional regulation, and spiritual foundations.
Others also found the recovery meetings and fitness activities impactful. One of the standout offerings is the equine-assisted learning. The patients we spoke with found working with horses to be a calming experience that helped them break free from their addictions.
Women, on the other hand, can take part in their Genesis Relapse Prevention Counselling. Through the use of dialectical behavioural therapy, women are able to personally grow, gain spiritual guidance, and set goals.
Adding to that, practical help like housing, food, and life skills training made the transition back to everyday life easier for many.
However, one common downside people mentioned was the rigid structure of the programs.

They truly do restore your dignity, help you discover your destiny and realise your dreams
“In 2003 I put forth a “conceptual” idea to Pastor Kenn Gill, then Senior Pastor at First Assembly Church. The idea was to take a Building, turn it into Low-Cost Housing and run it like a Hotel. The Church congregation voted 100% in favor of buying a piece of property (an old Hotel, go figure) and renovating it into The Calgary Dream Centre. I am blessed to have been a part of it and their slogan is correct. They truly do restore your dignity, help you discover your destiny and realize your dreams. Mine was the Grand Opening. Thanks Carmichael, you rock!!!!!”
