The 6 Best Nursing Homes in Calgary

When we have an elderly loved one, all we want is for them to be shown the same love and care that we would give them if we had a way to take care of them ourselves. It can be scary to entrust your loved ones to strangers but that’s all about to change.

This article is all about the best nursing homes in Calgary; their services, amenities, how to contact them, and where they are. If that’s what you’re looking for then read on!

How Much Do Nursing Homes in Calgary Cost?

As it is all around Canada, all personal and nursing care that long-term care homes provide are funded by the government. These include the on-site staff, medication, the care itself, access to any and all amenities in the home, meals, room furnishings, and so much more.

The only things you’ll be needing to take care of financially are the accommodation charges and the payment for any special requests you may ask for. Some of these special requests or additional services can include memory care, speech therapy, and physical therapy.

Accommodation rates are standardized all across Alberta meaning no matter what center you go to, you’ll pay the same accommodation rates which are as follows:

ServiceAverage Cost Per DayAverage Per Month
Standard$57.65$1,754
Private$70.10$2,132
Semi-private$60.65$1,845

The staff stepped up and gave residents safty during the pandemic and are true heroes! Thank u for your care and devotion to the eldery and disabled” -Lisa

Cozy and clean facility, great staff, does best to meet resident’s needs

“The facility is older but cozy and very clean.  It’s situated in a very beautiful part of the city and all the rooms are bright and well appointed.  I’ve been told that the food is good and have seen nothing but great care from the staff.  They have a lovely outside space surrounded by beautiful mature trees.  Each floor has a common room where family can visit with residents of the building.  Having someone in this situation is not ideal for anyone but I feel the staff are doing their best to meet the needs of the residents and their families.” -Laurie

Friendly staff, great good, clean facility

“My mom has been in this facility for about 9 months and she loves it. The staff is friendly, it’s is bright, there are so many places to visit, the gardens are great in the summer, my mom likes the gym and she says the food is great. My dad was in a different nursing home in the NE for 11 years and my mom was in another facility before AgeCare and this is by far the best. It’s clean and they have taken excellent Covid 19 measures.” -Diane

Exceptional care

“I made the decision to move my mother to Age Care Glenmore 14 months ago from out of province.  It was a tough decision but a good one.  Mom passed away recently but I am blessed our family was able to spend time with her as well as the exceptional and compassionate care she received from the entire staff at Glenmore. From the head nurse for the wing to all the people who assisted her in her time of need.  From the people who brought her drinks and cookies at night to the people who made her smile and sang to her……thank you from the bottom of my heart” -Clark
