The 5 Best Foot Massages in Calgary That Provide the Ultimate Pain Relief

Reputation: I looked for places with good reviews from others on online platforms like Google Reviews before checking them out myself.

Experience: I verified that these massage therapists had the necessary certifications and credentials.

Atmosphere: I checked to see if the place was clean and maintained standard hygiene, such as replacing the massage table linens and cleaning the foot water buckets.

Price: Even a foot massage can be expensive, so I compared prices from the places I visited.

I never really liked people looking at my feet—let alone touching them. After all, they’re…feet.

It’s definitely not the body part I’d choose to showcase at a beauty pageant or anywhere. So, the idea of a stranger massaging them didn’t quite sit well with me at first.

In fact, my first foot massage cemented that strange gut feeling when the therapist jammed a thumb directly into a pressure point that left me limping out of there. I was far from relaxed.

Since then, I have had my fair share of foot massages and have weeded out the terrible ones.

So, if you are craving a relaxing foot massage, here’s who made my list.

How much does it cost to get a foot massage in Calgary?

It costs at least 35 CAD to get a foot massage in Calgary. However, this cost is just an estimate. The actual cost will depend on the length of the massage, the spa, and more.

I really love how Dr. Amanda, the in-house foot massage specialist, combines hot stone therapy and acupressure reflexology. I found it very effective in making foot tension melt away immediately.

During my session, the hot stones were strategically placed and moved. I liked how Dr. Amada’s acupressure hit points that resonated beyond just my feet.

The spa itself enhances the experience. The treatment room, bathed in natural light from large bay windows overlooking the Bow River, is undeniably calming.

While getting my feet worked on, I also appreciated the thoughtful additions, like readily available power outlets next to each of their comfortable chairs. The availability of Wi-Fi was a huge plus, too.

I also appreciate that Exige backs up its service with a bold guarantee. If you’re unsatisfied with the massage within the first 30 minutes, you’ll get it for free.

However, a recurring complaint I encountered concerned the billing system. Several people reported being charged for double appointments despite booking only one. This kind of error is an unnecessary hassle.

Pros

  • Hot stone therapy for feet
  • Acupressure for feet
  • Beautiful and relaxing environment
  • Thoughtful amenities

Cons

  • Billing system issues

Works to stretch out the bottom of feet with the perfect pressure

“Wonderful experience yet again at Exige Medi Spa! I developed plantar fasciitis in my left heel area and saw that Exige had a special foot massage for that. Jim was amazing and really worked to stretch out the bottom of my feet with the perfect pressure. I highly recommend Jim and Exige! I always have a great experience at Exige! 😊”

Absolutely worth it!

“After working 13hr days/ 6 days a week, I desperately needed to destress! I booked a Chinese foot, Swedish full body & Buccal message, absolutely worth it! Kaicia was extremely personable, knowledgeable and direct. Melissa did my first 2 massages worked out knots I didn’t even know I had with her magic hands! Leslie (I believe is her name) gave me a facelift with the Buccal massage. I’ve never experienced anything like that, absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much ladies!”

The Relaxing Wellness Company caught my attention for their touted foot detox massage.

The massage itself was undoubtedly unique. My feet were placed over a steaming bamboo bucket infused with a slightly medicinal, but not overpowering, herbal aroma.

I liked the grounded feeling it provided. It wasn’t superficial pampering but a genuine attempt to address foot fatigue and tension.

My feet felt lighter and more mobile afterward, and there was a noticeable reduction in the persistent ache I’d been carrying in my heels.

Others I talked to also appreciated the noninvasive approach and the therapist’s knowledge of reflexology points.

However, the most significant issue I encountered was the poor soundproofing. Throughout my massage, I could hear conversations from the reception area, muffled music from another room, and even street noise filtering in.

Pros

  • Unique foot detox massage
  • Genuine focus on foot health
  • Rejuvenating experience
  • Luxurious foot scrubs and foot masks

Cons

  • Poor soundproofing

Living Lotus Healing has carved out a niche for foot massages that go beyond simple relaxation.

We like their holistic approach, which uses calming reflexology to regulate the nervous system through pressure points in the feet.

But even the space is intentionally designed to evoke a sense of tranquillity to soothe the nervous system.

Soft, neutral tones and gentle lighting create a soothing atmosphere. The carefully curated playlist of calming music they play further enhances the experience.

I like that the therapists here don’t just apply oil to your feet; they use intuitive, firm pressure. As they find muscle tension you didn’t even know existed, you’ll feel that subtle tension release in your feet and throughout your whole body.

Additionally, the firm, focused pressure was a welcome change from the gentler foot rubs I’ve experienced elsewhere.

However, I experienced a slight wait time even when I pre-booked an appointment.

Pros

  • Holistic approach
  • Calming environment
  • Curated calming music playlist
  • Works out the muscle tension

Cons

  • Reports of slight wait times

Personable and friendly

“Booked foot reflexology with Tracey and I’ve never felt better after any kind of work. She’s also so personable and friendly, and respected my request for a silent session.  Highly recommended.”

I’ve sometimes found Thai massages intense. However, at Baan Thai Massage, I left feeling balanced and comfortable.

At first, I was hesitant because of my massage therapist’s firm grip, but I felt my muscles ease up as she continued working through the tension. Halfway through the massage, I actually started yawning, so they earned relaxation points from me.

I also really appreciated their use of oils during the massage. Not only did I love the lavender’s aroma, but I also enjoyed its relaxing texture on my skin as they slathered it on my feet. By the end of it, my feet felt lighter, and my circulation improved.

Others I talked to also experienced quick pain relief, which explains how Baan Thai massage has built a strong reputation for its practical techniques.

I also appreciated the relaxing environment. I just wished the front desk staff had been more attentive. The receptionists were dismissive when I arrived, and I didn’t feel welcomed.

Pros

  • Effective Thai foot massage
  • Relaxing and improves circulation in feet
  • Relaxing environment

Cons

  • Reports of inattentive front desk staff

A treat to experience

“Just had my first ever Thai oil and foot massage. These reviews don’t lie.  So it’s a must to add to your list or gift to a friend. My experience was  spectacular. I left feeling like a whole new  person.  I suffer from plantar fasciitis and stiffness in my joints and muscles. Definitely treat yourself to this experience.  I’ll be back.”

– Kristine Morgan, Google Reviews

A clean and tidy environment

“I have been there several times. The environment is so clean and tidy, and everyone is so nice there. Suthin is definitely the best therapist I have met here. She is experienced and knows the right pressure for me so well. Definitely recommended.”

Reflexology Experience distinguishes itself with a focused dedication to foot reflexology.

I tried their signature Grounded Sole, a traditional foot reflex therapy. The hour-long session started with a mineral foot soak. I liked how the therapist focused pressure on specific points during the massage.

I particularly appreciated the therapist’s quiet focus on how they intuitively understood areas of attention. They noticed the tightness in my arch and used their knuckles to knead out the tension.

But I liked the tangible feeling of release the most, a lightness in my step that lasted well after the session.

Others I talked to loved how the therapists understood foot anatomy and pain points. They understood that putting too much pressure on ligaments around the ankles and feet can lead to discomfort, so they controlled their force.

However, the therapists here enjoy engaging in conversation, which some may feel detracts from the relaxing atmosphere.

Pros

  • Specializes in foot reflexology
  • Intuitive understanding of pressure points
  • Variety of massage options

Cons

  • Therapists tend to be overly conversational

A calm, clean, and nourishing atmosphere

“I love the calm, clean and nourishing atmosphere here. Mist-tee is wonderful. She has the natural healing touch and is a very good listener as well. I never feel rushed or judged with her and I also really appreciate that she keeps the small talk to minimum and lets me be silent and chance to take a nap during the session since I have a hard time falling asleep at night. I always feel refreshed and relaxed after. It helps with stress relief, resetting, detox, better circulation, immunity boost – overall wellness 🙂 Highly recommend seeing her!”
