One can easily whip up some classic Filipino dishes by getting all the ingredients they need in one spot – The Filipiniana Store.

According to Filipino staff members of The Best Calgary, they found that the Filipiniana Store has a much more authentic vibe compared to others on the list.

They said it’s reminiscent of their supermarkets and convenience stores to the point where it’s nostalgic. It’s because of the great selections this store has to offer.

If you’re planning on cooking some adobo or sinigang, you know where to go. Additionally, they have an interesting array of chips and drinks Filipinos in Canada would be thrilled to see.

As if that wasn’t enough, they also have a food court that sells a lot of delicious Filipino meals.

We heard they also have other Asian goodies here, but it’s still predominantly Filipino treats. In fact, this place is so Filipino, a Filipino in Calgary could easily go here and suddenly feel less homesick!

Lola, a Filipino word we just learned that means grandmother, is an endearing name for a Filipino supermarket. It sounds like every hearty dish made by Filipino lolas can easily be put together if you shop here.

Lo and behold, that’s exactly what Lola’s Filipino Kitchen is! Actually, it also doubles as a restaurant so you can even ditch the idea of making your own Filipino dish and just leave it to the experts.

We heard the most popular food items out of their menu are sisig rice bowl (minced pork belly), pancit bowl (seasoned noodles cooked with veggies and meat), and lumpia shanghai (pork spring rolls).

We’re also obsessed with their pork belly sinigang, which was recommended to us by a few staff members. It’s a slightly sour, savoury dish that’s so interesting – we haven’t tried anything like it!

6. Tatak Pinoy
