I once stayed at a hotel that was rated “luxury” online. But when I got to the place for the night, the lady at the front desk gave me the stink eye and spoke to me like I was checking into the Hotel of Doom.
Looking back, I should’ve taken that first impression as a warning. The entire stay was one long disappointment.
As a Calgarian, I know we have high standards. We expect the best, whether it’s our views of the Rockies or our hotel stays. That’s why I went searching for hotels that truly live up to the “luxury” label here in Calgary.
After plenty of research and staycations, these are the fancy hotels in Calgary that I think you’ll actually fancy.

The night I stayed, I loved being able to enjoy the panoramic views of downtown Calgary from the Prestige room.
But, if you’re on a business trip, I’d recommend the Privilege room. It provides a cosy living space with a convenient workstation.
If you can splurge more, though, I’d go with their Signature room. The king-size bed with bamboo and cotton linen, and that oversized rainfall shower felt like pure indulgence.
Foodwise, the Lounge Central 999 is a fantastic spot to unwind with champagne, creative cocktails, and local microbrewery beers. I highly recommend trying the raw-milk cheeses from Quebec or the house charcuterie.
| Pro Tip: Don’t leave without indulging in a massage at the RnR Wellness Spa. The hot stone massage is incredibly rejuvenating and the perfect way to unwind after a busy day. |

I stayed one night and loved being able to take a leisurely picnic at Prince’s Island Park and a scenic bike ride along the river pathways.
They have different kinds of rooms too. The Mingle Room, with two queen beds and east- and west-facing city views, is perfect for sharing with friends or family. I especially liked the high-quality linens, plush pillows and the big walk-in rainforest shower.
But if I have to pick a favourite, it’ll be the Savour Corner Room. It features stunning 180-degree city views.

All of their rooms come with bougie amenities, like the built-in filtered and UV-treated drinking water. The complimentary Wi-Fi with Google Chromecast connectivity came in clutch a few times during my visit here.
As far as recreation goes, their pool is refreshing, and the fitness centre is quite popular among guests who want to keep up their routines. Personally, I escaped to the Stillwater Spar for some much-needed relaxation.

The Inn on Officer’s Garden has a rich history and character.
I was fascinated to learn that a young Princess Elizabeth stayed here with Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, just two years before her coronation. The suite where they stayed was even named after her.
The QEII suite, named after Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth, is one of the fanciest hotel rooms in Calgary. It’s a 622 sq. ft. suite with a sitting room, 65-inch TV, King-size bed, and a wet bar. There’s also a standalone shower and a beautiful claw-foot tub.
