Tell you a little story: I was one of those kids who grew up scared of the dentist. I mean, as someone who already gets frazzled when I bite my utensils, the idea of some guy just poking around my teeth and gums with instruments was freaky. Yikes!

You’d think this would mean I’d be better at taking care of my teeth when I was young, but I wasn’t. Bam! I got a toothache so bad I had to go anyway. And believe me, an hour or two in that chair was way less stressful than putting up with constant pain in my jaw.

Fast forward and now I’ve got a niece who needs a teeth cleaning and my wisdom teeth need removing. Fortunately, I had family and friends to help me round up some dental clinics here in Calgary, you know: ones to keep us both from freaking out. Smile!

How much does it cost to go to a dental clinic in Calgary?

Getting a procedure done at a dental clinic in Calgary can cost you anywhere from $20 to $400, depending on several factors such as the type of treatment, any exam needed during consultations and products used in the procedure.

No, this dental clinic isn’t ours! Jokes aside, My Dental Clinic has reportedly come in clutch for folks looking into quick, walk-in dental appointments. Since getting dental appointments can be a logistical hassle, we were intrigued enough to swing by!

We were immediately struck by how informative the team was when we reached out. They were quick to let us know about their procedures and treatments, from the initial consultations to how to schedule a procedure.

Their dental procedures were pretty varied, with most being available same-day! These ranged from classic cosmetic dentistry like teeth cleaning and whitening to more medical dentistry including tooth extractions and fillings.

Another factor we got to hear from regulars of the clinic was the pricing. Many reportedly found their costs fairly competitive, especially compared to other dental clinics in the area. Definitely a plus in our book for folks on a tight budget!

However, some regulars did let us know that while initial assessments and procedures were easy to schedule, some experienced long waiting times for follow-up appointments to get scheduled. We’d advise regularly communicating with the team just in case.

Pros

  • Available for procedures on short notice
  • Competitive pricing for procedures
    Professional and informative team
  • Professional and informative team

Cons

  • Long waiting time for follow-up appointments

It was a pleasure to spend an hour with her

Our teeth put up with a lot for us, but taking care of them can be difficult beyond just brushing three times a day. Fortunately, locals were happy to point us to the Pathways Dental Clinic for those looking to get a headstart on bettering their dental care!

It wasn’t hard to see why. Right off the bat, we took note of their booking process, which could be handled online or in-person. Regulars we got to chat with also mentioned the team confirming the schedule pretty quick, saving on the hassle of waiting!

Consultations at the clinic were also quite the highlight. The team was reportedly pretty thorough, taking into account the patient’s own medical history and lifestyle to explain the current state of their teeth and any procedures recommended to treat htem.

Of course, we had to ask about their procedures as well! We were pleased to hear that these were generally kept as calm and relaxing as they could, which is pretty handy in our book for nervous patients.

One last word of advice we heard from regulars was to ask for a price breakdown if possible. A few mentioned feeling like the price quotes could be unclear.

Pros

  • Thorough patient consultations
  • Quick and streamlined booking process
  • Calm and relaxing procedures

Cons

  • Difficulty clarifying price quotes

Like any injury, a cracked tooth or one that’s knocked out can strike us at any time. We might not always have the time to wait for an appointment, so it’s a good thing locals recommended the Sunridge Dental Clinic as a go-to for these!

The first highlight for us was how responsive the team was, answering our inquiries in a pretty short time! A few regulars also let us know that the team was pretty proactive with updating them on their appointment schedules and how soon they could be seen.

Also garnering praise was the clinic’s flexible hours. A few regulars mention getting treated at the clinic even deep into the evenings, thanks to the team’s willingness to extend hours as needed!

The procedures themselves were also reportedly pretty quick and timely. Of course, this was reportedly without sacrificing the precision needed to treat sensitive teeth, so nervous patients can be in and out in a jiffy.

On the other hand, a few customers mentioned that their dental fillings could still be improved. Some reported needing to get fillings adjusted after a while, so we’d recommend going for something less invasive first to get a feel of their procedures.

Pros

  • Flexible timing and hours
  • Quick and timely procedures
  • Proactive and responsive team

Cons

  • Dental filling services may still be improved

All the staff was friendly

“Dr Kabb was amazing. I’m deathly afraid of needles and he made sure I never felt any of it. All the staff was friendly and let me know what was happening with the procedure. Would recommend to anyone.”

Given the daily wear and tear they face, we might encounter issues with our teeth that can’t be solved with a simple clean and regular brushing. Customers looking into more long-term solutions were happy to point us to Inglewood Family Dental in these cases!

Right off the jump, we heard about the treatment plans offered at the clinic. These were reportedly pretty clear and easy to follow, laying out both short-term and long-term care plans for the patient’s teeth.

This was helped along by how informative the team was, which we were happy to hear of! Regulars mentioned the team thoroughly considering patients’ comfort levels and own brushing habits to come up with ways to personalize their treatment plans.

Finally, these services also came in at surprisingly reasonable prices! Considering how expensive services like root canal treatments and dental implants can get, having price points that don’t necessitate breaking the bank is handy.

That being said, customers did mention that for treatment plans to stick, the clinic may need to book multiple appointments to finish their treatments. The costs can add up after a while, so we’d still recommend consulting with them on your budget.

Pros

  • Clear and personalized treatment plans
  • Informative medical team
  • Reasonable pricing for services

Cons

  • May need multiple appointments to finish treatments

Explained clearly and handled professionally

“We recently switched our family to Inglewood Family Dental and we’re very happy so far. We’ve had X-rays, a full treatment plan, and some fillings done, and everything was explained clearly and handled professionally.”

– Ms. Atefeh Karimi, Google Review

Hygienists are all super friendly and nice

“Been going here for about a year now and have never had any bad experiences. Hygienists are all super friendly and nice, and the dentist is also very professional and great at explaining things as he goes along.”

If there’s a group that dreads going to the dentist more than anyone, it’s kids. Finding a dental clinic that doesn’t make younger patients freak out on sight can feel like finding a needle in a haystack, but families we spoke to happily recommended Crescent Heights!

Once we got to swing by for a visit, we were instantly greeted with a clean, well-maintained clinic. The waiting areas were pretty relaxing too, which we find helps with more nervous newcomers.

The clinic was also home to quite the range of services, especially ones tailored to younger patients! Their pediatric dentistry was a highlight among families, addressing issues like tartar and tooth decay for primary teeth well.

We got to chat with some patients who were happy to report that the procedures were fairly relaxing as well. Apart from sedation dentistry being available, patients were reportedly treated very gently and given tools to help them relax, like stress balls.

With that in mind, a few customers did advise us to confirm the prices of the service before going in for a procedure! Some mentioned the pricing changing after the procedure is done, which can make budgeting tricky.

Pros

  • Clean and relaxing clinic space
  • Gentle approach to procedures
  • Reliable services for younger patients

Cons

  • Quoted prices may fluctuate

I enjoy the vibe of the office

“My wife and I were fortunate enough to be referred to Dr. Chow a few years ago upon moving to Calgary. I enjoy the vibe of the office, the front desk staff, the hygienists (especially Milka, she rocks!) and the great work they do.”

– Mr. Chase McFarlen, Google Review

Clear and understandable communication

“Friendly, professional staff. Clear and understandable communication of procedures, quiet environment and technique(squeeze ball) for anxiety. Super happy with the progressive and better looking smile. Positive experience.”

– Ms. Anita Friesen, Google Review
