Finding a great ballet studio often starts with a simple goal, like better posture or a fun activity for your toddler. But the search quickly buries you in schedule PDFs and registration forms.
So I did the digging for you. I compared schedules, tuition, and age divisions across the city to find studios that deliver solid teaching without the headache.
Here are the best ballet studios in Calgary, from gentle adult drop-in sessions to serious youth exam tracks.

1. Revolution Dance Calgary

Website: https://revolutiondancecalgary.com/
Address: 239 Midpark Blvd.
Contact: (403) 477-9442
Hours: Schedules vary by age group and program
Finding a studio that balances serious skill growth with a warm feel is tough. Revolution Dance Calgary covers both goals with casual and competitive programs in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and acro for kids aged three to eighteen.
Small class caps keep the skill growth personal, since your dancer gets plenty of individual guidance.
The warm feel comes from the instructors. A local parent I spoke with said the instructors rebuilt her teen daughter’s confidence right away after a long break.
The practical side is easy too. Parents get a stress-free online portal, and affordable rental costumes keep expenses low.
Be aware, though, that strict age divisions can limit flexible placement if your child falls between brackets.

She couldn’t wait to go back — and ever since,
From the very first try-out, my daughter fell in love with Revolution. She couldn’t wait to go back — and ever since, her passion for dance has only grown. In 2024/2025 season She took acro, ballet, and tap, and this 2025/2026 year she’s adding jazz, hip-hop, and maybe even lyrical. She’s only 8, but she dreams of being in Revolution and dancing her heart out.

2. Absolute Dance Inc.

Website: https://absolutedanceinc.com/
Address: 105–630 46 Ave.
Contact: (403) 210-0188 | [email protected]
Hours: Mon–Wed: 4:30 PM–7:30 PM; Thu–Fri: Closed; Sat: 10:00 AM–1:00 PM; Sun: Closed
Juggling after-school activities is a headache for busy parents. Absolute Dance fixes that by housing ballet, tap, jazz, and even parent fitness under one roof.
Your young dancer can learn solid classical ballet there without you driving between separate dance studios in Calgary for each style.
That works because the space has five dedicated studios, a black-box theatre and a Reformer Pilates room.
Cost stays predictable too. Full-year youth ballet runs about $990, and monthly payments make it easier to fit into a household budget.
The downside is that the office is closed on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, so office help is limited during the week.
Also, families pay a mandatory annual membership and recital fees on top of tuition.

The teachers are wonderful with the children and very talented
We’ve had our daughter taking ballet classes here for the past two years and absolutely love it. The teachers are wonderful with the children and very talented with their choreography. Their communication is always on point and they are always helpful to talk to. They make beautiful outfits for their holiday production and year end recitals. Definitely recommend this studio.

3. Alberta Ballet School

Website: https://www.albertaballetschool.com/
Address: 920 12 Ave
Contact: (403) 245-2274, ext. 722 | [email protected]
Hours: Mon–Fri: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (office); Sat–Sun: Closed
Serious young dancers aiming for a stage career soon need more than a weekly studio class. Alberta Ballet School gives them a full classical program, pairing intensive technique training with accredited schooling for Grades 7 to 12.
That workload is heavy, so support matters. When I asked their staff about student support, they said on-site physiotherapists and sports psychologists work closely with young athletes to keep them healthy through demanding schedules.
The hard work pays off too. Their link to the pro Alberta Ballet Company gives advanced trainees a direct route to mainstage shows.
Dancers with more casual goals are welcome too. The recreational youth track runs $1,528 to $2,072 a year, and adult beginners can drop in for $36 a class.
The catch is that the professional academic stream needs a tough audition, so it isn’t a casual sign-up.

As a parent of a young dancer at Alberta Ballet School, I am beyond impressed with the quality of education, professionalism, and supportive atmosphere they provide. From the very first class, it was clear that is a place that takes ballet seriously while also creating a nurturing environment for young dancers to grow.

This school can propel you to a career in ballet
I started dance classes here when I was 4 years old. I was in x3 productions of the Nutcracker (the one everyone pays to see). It was fantastic training which I have carried with me my entire life. This school can propel you to a career in ballet if that is your goal. Highly recommend! Fantastic adult classes as well!

4. Evolutions School of Dance

Website: https://www.evolutionsdance.com/
Address: Unit 5, 6624 Centre St.
Contact: (403) 819-0758 | [email protected]
Hours: Mon: 5:00 PM–7:00 PM; Tue: 4:30 PM–7:15 PM; Wed–Thu: 4:30 PM–7:45 PM; Fri: Closed; Sat: 9:45 AM–12:00 PM; Sun: Closed
Dancers returning to the barre after a long break often worry about an intense, judgmental mood. Evolutions School of Dance puts age-appropriate technique and kind, positive relationships first for every age group.
I dropped by to ask about intro options, and their team was happy to set up a trial class before asking for any term commitment. That gives parents and adult returners a chance to try the space and the teaching style first.
If you’d rather start small, their short and low-cost sessions like their $135 Nutcracker performance class ease you in. Full-year Cecchetti ballet training is there when you’re ready for more.
On the flip side, their front desk is open mostly in late afternoons and on Saturday mornings.
Additionally, age categories are strictly enforced for program entry.

always very excited for her weekly preschool ballet class at 3yrs old.
Evolutions has been a wonderful entry point for my Preschooler into the world of ballet. She enjoyed their “Small & Tall” class when she was two years old and now is always very excited for her weekly preschool ballet class at 3yrs old. The school always has on different activities for the kids to participate in (sugar plum fairy tea, free day of dance.. etc) that allows the school to feel more like a community. It is well organized, priced fairly with excellent teachers and communication to parents.

Stephanie was personable and friendly
When I spoke with Stephanie on the phone, I knew immediately that Evolutions was different from the rest. Stephanie was personable and friendly, with a positive energy that came through over the phone. She asked me so many questions about my daughter, her dance history and personality. I did not grow up dancing, so I was unfamiliar with the Cecchetti syllabus, but Stephanie took the time to explain how it differed from the RAD program, and answered all the questions I had.

5. Spoon of Sugar – Kids Dance Studio

Website: https://spoonofsugaryyc.tilda.ws/
Address: 1140 8 St.
Contact: (587) 437-7105 | [email protected]
Hours: Schedules vary by program
Starting a toddler in structured movement can backfire if the class feels too rigid. Spoon of Sugar avoids that by mixing classical ballet basics with creative arts, theatrical play, and textile crafts.
The easiest way in is the parent-toddler class, where you join in while very young kids build early coordination. Kids’ classes then start at $20 a session, which makes it a budget-friendly start for young families.
Once your toddler is settled, parents get a turn of their own. The studio runs an 8-week “Ballet for Grown-Ups” session for $290, or $249 early bird, where you can learn basic posture and movement without pressure.
That said, their focus leans toward creative early childhood arts, so advanced youth dancers who want strict classical pointe work will need to look elsewhere.
