I don’t know about you, but I hate using portable toilets. I only use them when I’m desperately on the verge of my bladder giving way to Niagara Falls.
Most places I’ve been to have portable toilets that left me wishing I brought a gas mask to the line, and gave me that sinking feeling I might end up being stuck inside the toilet.
So when it came time to help plan our company’s big outdoor event, I knew we couldn’t settle for those nightmare units.
That kicked off our hunt for the cleanest, most comfortable portable toilet rentals in Calgary. We rolled up our sleeves (and held our noses) to test them out—here’s who made the cut!

What we like most about Pit Stop Portables is their range. They have almost every toilet that you can think of, from the women-only pink units to the clever Elevator Units for high-rise construction.
What stood out the most to us, though, were their Baby Change Table toilets. They offer unmatched convenience during events, especially those that are not child-free.
We also love their heated flush toilets, which they call The Cozy Can. These toilets aren’t plastic, but made from all-aluminum construction and come with fresh water tanks.
Many of the customers we talked to also appreciated the option for men’s urinal stations. These stations cut wait times at events, keeping guests happy and the event running smoothly.
We also like the honest approach that they take with their customers. People told us they appreciated the no hidden fees and the upfront quotes. This makes booking stress-free for many, especially when you’re on a tight budget.
The only hitch? Their washroom trailers, while loaded with features and luxury touches, require significant electrical and water hookups, which might not suit every site.

Straight Flush Rentals made our list because of their Extreme-Jon unit. It’s a four-season portable bathroom that’s popular among many we interviewed.
It’s got tough, insulated panels and a 500-watt heater. We found it one of the most comfortable portable toilets in the city, no matter the weather.
On top of that, we love how they include all the extras with their portable toilets. They provide handwash trailers equipped with ten sinks and fresh water tanks.
They even provide fences if you want to separate your toilets from the rest of the event, adding an extra layer of privacy and organization.
Plus, we think it’s neat how they offer heavy-duty toilets. Customers often brag about how easy it is to hook up their Explorer flush toilets, which feature more space, low-profile entrances, and full insulation for added convenience.
Their handicapped toilets, though, aren’t that impressive. They aren’t as spacious as we’d hoped, with a few people telling us they felt a bit cramped inside.
That aside, if you want solid, dependable units with all the extras, Straight Flush Rentals has you covered.

Alberta Trailers’ four-stall washroom trailer (up to 200 guests) isn’t just functional—it’s upscale. We watched their online video tour and loved how it clearly shows the quality and spaciousness.
We love the wood grain floors, granite counters, and their built-in stereo system. One customer even raved about how the music and fan system made the trailer feel like a real bathroom.
We also like how every stall has its own entrance, giving guests privacy and helping lines move faster. Plus, hot running water and heated toilets come standard, so there are no cold surprises.
For larger crowds, we recommend their nine-stall trailer. It can comfortably handle up to 500 guests and has four women’s stalls and four men’s urinals.
Honestly, the only downside is that these trailers require a solid power and water hookup. This makes them best suited for events with proper infrastructure.

Viking Waste Management stood out for how affordable they rent out their clean, dark portable toilets.
We also like how quickly they provide quotes. Having one ready just a few hours after filling out their online form is both efficient and convenient.
Their speed goes beyond quoting too. We find them very responsive, and they often manage to accommodate last-minute calls because of how quickly they respond to inquiries.
On top of that, they’re punctual. Many people also appreciate how Viking stays on top of timely delivery and pick-up. We think this is a big relief when you’re already managing tight event timelines.

VP Disposal keeps things simple with their portable toilets for construction sites, weddings, or any event. They’re a pretty good choice for anyone who just needs a clean, functional unit without overcomplication.
A construction manager told us that his crew really appreciated VP Disposal’s clean and well-kept toilets during long outdoor jobs. This kind of upkeep can make tough workdays much more bearable.
While they don’t have all the fancy bells and whistles like heated seats or trailers, they make up for it by delivering the units quickly. Some customers in a bind told us VP Disposal really came through for them at the last minute.
We also think it’s a plus that their staff sets everything up and makes sure it’s all working before they leave. They even answer questions and make sure each toilet is stable and stocked before taking their leave.
We found their prices reasonable too, which is great if you’re watching your budget.
We just wish they’d offer handwashing stations and urinals too, since they can be essential in events.
