The 5 Best Plant Deliveries in Calgary for Plants That Don’t Die in Transit

Plant Health: I chose shops that delivered to me plants that were actually thriving. Whether it was a sapling or a full-grown adult, I looked at the soy moisture and the appearance.

Packaging & Shipping: No one wants to get a plant at their door that is covered in dirt. That is why I considered how they packaged their plants, aka if there was cushioning, temperature control and more.

Variety: I browsed through their online sites to see the range of plants they had in stock. I looked at the species, sizes, and pot options available too.

Customer Service: I tested the responsiveness and helpfulness of their customer service by asking them questions about their delivery time frames.

Call me the crazy plant lady, but I love adding to my collection of plants just as much as I enjoy buying treats for my pups.

But I once ordered a Monstera plant online, thinking I would get an Instagram-worthy addition for my living room. What arrived, though, was a sad, droopy plant. The soil was dry, and the leaves were yellowing too.

Since then, I’ve been cautious about where I buy plants online.

I started looking into the best places in Calgary that offer plant delivery without killing your plants in the process. Here are the ones I found.

How much does it cost to get plants delivered in Calgary?

It costs at least $10 to get plants delivered to your door in Calgary. This is just an estimate. The final price will depend on the type of plants you buy, the delivery fees and more.

1. YYC Plant Delivery

Address: 1 Wolf Hollow Mnr SE

Operating Hours: Open 24 Hours

Website

YYC Plant Delivery has everything from herbs to garden boughs. I love how most of their plants are ones that are hard to find at your average garden centre. Their selection made my inner plant enthusiast squeal in delight.

Beyond the plants themselves, I like that they have ceramics, terracotta, and eco-friendly pots. Plus, they stock plant care supplies, making it easy to keep new green friends happy and healthy.

I decided to put their delivery service to the test, ordering a succulent and a terracotta pot.

Now, I appreciate the clear delivery fees (starting at $10, with free delivery over $150). And since I placed my order before 4:00 PM, I was eligible for next-day delivery, which was incredibly convenient.

I also appreciated receiving a delivery notice on the day of, and the plant arrived carefully packaged and in perfect condition.

The only real con I could find? Their delivery times can be a bit broad (weekdays and weekends from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM).

While they do allow many to select their preferred day, buyers can’t choose a specific time slot unless they email them before the plant is sent out.

Pros

  • Herbs to garden boughs
  • Unique plants
  • Plant care supplies and more
  • Clear delivery fees
  • Next-day delivery available
  • Delivery notices
  • Careful packaging

Cons

  • Broad delivery times
  • Can’t pick a specific delivery time slot

The plant is incredibly healthy, vibrant, and well cared for.

“I recently purchased a ficus from Kathy and I couldn’t be happier! The plant is incredibly healthy, vibrant, and well cared for. You can tell that Kathy puts a lot of love and expertise into her plants. She was also super knowledgeable and gave me great care tips to ensure it thrives in my home. I highly recommend her business to anyone looking for high-quality plants and excellent service. I’ll definitely be back for more!”

Gave me a choice of delivery dates

“Absolutely fantastic. First time ordering. I ordered 6 plants. They responded immediately and gave me a choice of delivery dates.  They were right on time.

I found one plant was missing and emailed them. Right away they returned an email telling me that one was en error at point of sale and refinded my money for that plant. The money was in my bank within 5 minutes.

I will definitely order from them again. The plants were in tip top shape and are flourishing well in their new home. Now I’ll need another plant shelf for my next orders.”

2. Plant Positivity with Rowe

Address: 132 Corner Meadows Way NE

Website

Plant Positivity with Rowe has a beautiful selection of plant saplings like the Bengkulu silver and Hoya caudata ‘Argene’.

Their focus on unique and hard-to-find plants, along with their selection of plant saplings, is what got them on my radar.

I normally shy away from ordering plant saplings in the mail, because it can be very nerve-wracking. All I can think of is whether the baby plant will die during the delivery process.

That’s why I loved how Plant Positivity with Rowe’s only do overnight shipping to lower the transit time. I also like that their shipping day is either Monday or Tuesday, which allows them to avoid weekend delays too.

Plus, I appreciate that they include heat packs and insulation with whatever saplings you buy.

But they don’t cover minor plant damage due to improper handling by the courier.

However, if the plant arrives dead, they will gladly refund or replace it. Just make sure to send them a photo within 24 hours of delivery.

Pros

  • Beautiful selection of plant saplings
  • Unique and hard-to-find plants
  • Overnight shipping
  • Avoids weekend delivery delay
  • Heat packs and insulation
  • Will refund and replace plants

Cons

  • Don’t cover minor plant damages

The packaging is thoughtful and secure

“All I can say is WOW! It’s so apparent that this company loves what they do and cares deeply for their plants. The packaging is thoughtful and secure and there’s even an unboxing video to make sure your plants stay safe while you unpack them. My plants were beautiful and healthy and there were so many cute little extras from the personal thank you note to the printed plant labels, and the cutest most creative logo even on the nursery cups! I will definitely be shopping with them again. VERY PLEASED!“

The Botanist sells flowers, gardening supplies, gifts, and plants. They even have whimsical items, so I’d say that it’s the ideal shop for cottage core plant lovers.

I love that they have a diverse and carefully curated selection of plants. While browsing their site, I found a wide range of plants. Their selection includes bonsai, succulents, orchids, and philodendrons.

I also love that they cater to specific needs, offering low-light plants, pet-friendly options, and hard-to-kill varieties. There are also terrarium plants and even large statement pieces.

Their local delivery service is another major draw. They offer same-day delivery on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays (cut-off 12:00 pm) and Saturdays (cut-off 10:00 am), with a $15 Calgary city-wide delivery rate.

I love that they have specific delivery windows too, based on availability. And for those last-minute emergencies, they use Uber Connect delivery.

  • Diverse selection of plants
  • Gardening supplies, and more
  • Caters to specific plant needs
  • Same-day delivery available

Sprout Calgary Plant Store offers fresh indoor and outdoor plants, as well as unique ceramics. But it’s their $5 city-wide delivery fee that got me right from the start.

I love how Sprout’s affordable delivery rate makes it easy to indulge in my plant obsession without breaking the bank.

They do daily delivery on all orders over $35. Just make sure to get your order in before 1 PM for that same-day delivery.

My bird of paradise was delivered right on time, and there wasn’t a single leaf out of place.

I also appreciated their transparent policy regarding damaged plants. I think knowing that they would give me a replacement gave me peace of mind.

The only real con to consider is that their drivers don’t call or notify people when they are out for delivery. So, many are left looking outside all the time for their plant to show up.

That said, the plant selection is awesome. They have tropical plants, succulents, and even more exotic finds like Venus flytraps and jade heart bonsais.

Pros

  • $5 city-wide delivery fee
  • Daily delivery
  • Same-day delivery available
  • Awesome packaging
  • Gives replacement plants
  • Awesome plant selection

Many people I spoke to also praised Bonavista’s custom flower design service, loving that they do stunning arrangements for any occasion.

In general, the online ordering process was easy. All I had to do was click add to cart and checkout. I also think it’s neat how customers have the option to add a custom message with their floral or plant purchase.

What impressed me most, though, was the care they took in ensuring the plant arrived in excellent condition. I appreciated how it was carefully packaged to prevent damage during transit.
