OPERATING HOURSMonday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Offering a mix of Korean and Japanese cuisine, Kim Chi House serves traditional Asian meals to anyone visiting its food court.

It has all types of meals, including spicy pork, beef broths, squid, and even tasty but mild bulgogi and bibimbap. We also like that Kim Chi House’s menu has labels on the level of spiciness of each dish.

This dining place isn’t much of a restaurant than a food court, so you can expect that its meals are rather reasonably priced. Nonetheless, Kim Chi House serves delicious meals and has customer service that can rival that of full-blown restaurants.

That said, it only occupies a quaint space. Still, Kim Chi House makes dining as comfortable as possible by offering dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options.

While Kim Chi House may not have a working website now, its dishes are available for checkout on various delivery platforms like UberEats, Skip the Dishes, and Door Dash.

Pros

  • Affordable pricing
  • Asian fusion of Korean and Japanese cuisine
  • All-day opening hours
  • Spicy rating on each dish

Cons

  • No online reservation forms
  • Closed on Sundays
  • Relatively small space

Customer Reviews

Amazing service, varied menu

“Delicious food and amazing service. Good menu with lots of choice. Stone bowls and kimchi soup were fantastic. Plus you get tea and it was great too. Prices are fair and it’s a good amount of food.”—Samantha Lemna

Very reasonably priced, tastes like home-cooked food

“This is located in a food court but make no mistake, their food doesn’t taste anything like it! One of the best Korean food I’ve had (although I’ve only tried the Beef Bulgolgi) and it’s very reasonably priced for what you get. It tastes like home cooked food. The guy brings you your food to your table and will clean up the dishes and he doesn’t even force you to pay tip! You are free to go up to the counter to pour some tea or water whenever you’d like. 10/10 I try to come here whenever I’m around Chinatown.”—Athyris

Taste of Korea is conveniently located in Beltline for those going out for a meal. Despite its modern and contemporary location, interiors, and outlook on Korean cuisine, Taste of Korea still serves authentic Korean meals to its patrons.

It has stir-fried noodles, bibimbap, rice bowls, Korean BBQ, and soups posted alongside their respective spice ratings. The restaurant even offers vegan options.

What makes Taste of Korea really special among the best Korean restaurants in Calgary is that it also serves signature Korean street food, like Buchimgae or Korean pancake, as part of its all-day specials.

Aside from the food, customers have praised Taste of Korea for its warm welcome and customer service.

But given that it’s located in one of Calgary’s busiest neighbourhoods and is only open for dinner, Taste of Korea is less accessible than others. Some customers also find it small for a restaurant.

Luckily, this Korean restaurant has online reservation forms where you can book a date and time for at most 8 people. And you should know, customers find it among the affordable dining places in Beltline.

Delicious food, convenient parking

“Wonderful small but tasty food place. This family run place is very good and fast service.  Thier Seafood Pancake is awesome in appetizers. Main course we did Spicy Chicken Bibimbap ( next will have to order extra spicy but tastes yum) and Chicken Bulgogi.  Parking  not an issue as we went Sunday evening but definitely a must try simple tasty family run Korean Restaurant in YYC.”—Saravana Moorthy

Tasty drinks, attentive and friendly service

“Super cool ambience! The drinks are really tasty and the service is so attentive and friendly. They gave us a free Polaroid picture and a free welcome gift (sweet fries)! Didn’t get a chance to try the food aside from the sweet fries but they are DELICIOUS!!! Definitely recommend :)”—Lana Bee

Delicious and picture-worthy food

“Amazing service, great food, would def order from here again. I called and spoke to a woman with an accent who was so kind and helpful – I didn’t get her name but I wish I did! She tried getting it back on but didn’t work. Uber eats was available but cost more. After being on the phone with me for 15 mins or so trying to figure it out, I ended up ordering on door dash. When my order came, I got this note on my bag! Super sweet. We ordered the bulgogi dog, bulgogi poutine, and the kimchi bacon jeon, which they threw an extra one in for inconvenience! Devoured the food so fast didn’t get to take a picture. Delicious taste, a bit salty but great when you’re craving it, good portion, would definitely order again!”—Rosie Le

Cozy interiors, tasty food

“One of the best Korean restaurants in yyc! They have a cozy and cute interior and taste was even better. The place also treats so well with a kind service. Chicken katsu is my favourite pick and recommendation if you don’t know what to get”—신승열

Freedom to choose protein, huge portions

“Just back from dinner at this little gem.  I have had a lot of bibimbap in my days but this place serves the BEST.  The rice is cooked in a special bowl that makes it crunchy on the bottom yet soft and sticky on top.  You get a choice of beef, pork or chicken.  I had the pork and it was yummy.  The portion sizes are very generous and the service is outstanding.  Cafe Momoko is located in a strip mall on the west side of the city but is so worth the trek.”—Jelly S

Accommodating owner, perfectly-made food

“The owner here is so lovely! Tried the Bibimbap; was so good! Was made perfectly, but the restaurant  was truly worth it for the owner and atmosphere. We told him we were on a special date and he gave us a free dessert. 10/10 recommend!”—Riss Morow
